a lot? i vaguely recall someone saying that a used Aurion motor might be around the $8k mark.
just need to know what sort of $ a 2gr-fe 3.5 v6 Aurion engine with 8000kms would be worth with wiring loom and computer etc?
I have one available but I would like to know everyones thoughts.
Thanks

so a complete package with loom and computer for about 3 grand is a steal then?
now...yes, in a few years tey will be worth pennies.
yeah I know that but i need one for next years off road season.
I paid $5500 for a low km one landed a Alice, motor only .
Personally I would not use factory management as it will slow throttle response via the drive by wire system and the computer will revert to limp mode whenever it sees the smallest of issues.
On the other hand you will need a pretty decent aftermarket computer to control the cams .

2GR-FE 200 Killer Wasps
I have looked at all the options regarding managment and I was told the same thing with the 20 valve and I ran that for 6 years on a factory ecu and never had an electrical issue, so i am willing to try the factory ecu with the v6.Originally Posted by off-road
only real issue with the factory ecu is getting around the immobiliser and the DBW, 20V is a piece of cake in comparison to the 2GR electronics.
From my personal experience the 2gr factory ECU is very touchy when it comes to modifications.
I know it will be a challenge but compared to the cost of an aftermarket ecu I thinks its worth a try, I have a pretty clever auto electrician that is keen to have a crack so I will let him try it but if we cant get it working aftermarket will be the only option.
Mate who worked at a Ford dismantlers couldnt give away BA motors because they simply werent breaking, I would think Aurion motors would be in the same boat.
The Aurion motors would be a difficult thing to sell at the moment. as the cars are still under a factory warranty, who is going to be chasing one at a Dismantlers?
In another 3 or 4 years when they start breaking/ wearing out, it will be a different story.
People who want them for conversions, beacause they are so hard to get. Would make for a much better upgrade compared to a 3VZ/1MZ if it can be converted to RWD easily or a transverse manual can be attached (for the MR2 boysOriginally Posted by wa5

Yep the 2GR bolts straight up to an E153 to go into an MR2. IT would make for a nice cruiser dropped into an SW20.
That's it, it's pretty much only people who want to convert who will be chasing them. But what kind of aftermarket ECU could run it?

you'd need an ECU with a lot of inputs and PWM capable outputs...
The 2gr's four vvt solenoids are all the two-wire type (OC1+, OC1- etc) just like the VVTi used on the 1zz-fe, 2zz-ge and beams 3s-ge. The four VVT cam sensors are all 3 wire sensors (VV1+, VV1-, VCV1 etc), then you've got your 6 injector outputs if you want to run sequential, two knock sensors, crank shaft sensor, 6 ignition drivers plus all the other normal stuff (IAT, THW etc). Then you need more if you want to try and retain the DBW throttle body.
I've got the full 2gr Aurion manual in PDF but it's a bit too large to upload, just the engine control system section is 14mb.
Would be interesting to see what ECU the guys with 2gr's in offroad buggies and that drag car are using.
