OT, but recently the alternator went on the Jack TD.
Holden wanted freaking $1400 for one plus fitting! Yes, that's right, one thousand four hundred dollars!
After a few calls I found a new non-genuine one for $320 plus fitting or a regulator/rectifier unit with brushes for $138 delivered to my door. I took the regulator/rectifier deal. Pulled the alternator out, took the back off, de-soldered the old guts, soldered in the new buts and put it all back together. The job took two hours.
It pays to shop around.
