From very rough memory, I believe someone here used the standard non twin cam dizzy drive. As the cam is still in the block to drive the oil pump it should be do-able.

Does anyone have any input on how I can go about adapting a cam sync sensor to a 3tgteu. I can't use the stock dizzy because I am using cams with no dizzy drive.

Did they use the twin plug turbo head? With that head there is not enough clearance to remove the oil pump drive and install a dizzy because of the extra metal from where the twin plug dizzy goes on the head. Maybe they clearanced around it?

I have a haltech e6x, and used a haltech hall effect setup on my 3T-GTE. This was done using the existing dizzy and making a trigger disc with 4 rare earth magnets as pickups.
Because you won't be using the dizzy, I would think you could mount a similar trigger disc as mine to the front Pulley?
I already have a crank position sensor. I need #1 tdc reference.

I can't seem to find the details but I think it was a very cut down dizzy, head may have been clearanced.
Callum
I think that may be my best option. Do you remember what T series engine came with the short dizzy. I think all the 3tc motors came with the tall dizzy.
Man I sure hope I can do it without pulling the head.
P.S. that is not a pic of my engine. Just a generic pic.

You should be able to cut something down to suit if its just for the cam sensor, depends if you have access to any machining equipment to make something up.

Remake the crank disc with a missing tooth.
Then program the ecu to see that missing tooth to know where TDC is.
Many engines use this.

Yes but that only references TDC not TDC#1!! I already have a TDC crank sensor set up using two magnets and a hall effect sensor.

I gather you aren't running wasted spark then ?

Well with wasted spark it doesn't matter if you are TDC#1 or TDC#4 (assuming you are also running 2 groups of 2 injectors).
Correct me if I'm wrong here.

That is correct. However I am not concerned with wasted spark I have that working well. I want sequential injectionThat is why I need a home/cam sync.

i know datto boys use ca18 sencors and mod them to fit inside the dizzys, the only ways ive heard are to use a dizzy and make a sensor inside.
