Have you tried swapping the outer two wires around?
I've fitted the 3SGE throttle body to my 4AGZE and assumed that because the idle motor plug is the same it should control the idle but it doesn't so i'm not sure if the motor is dead or wiring is different.
Any ideas?
Vic.

Strange things are afoot at the circle K
No i haven't, i'll give it a shot tonight.
Thanks
You might want to make sure the idle motor isn't gummed up, if it's off a high milage car there might be something blocking it.

I gave it a good clean before i fitted it and i can control the idle by turning the shaft with the motor off.
Thanks again.
Wire swap worked, thanks Ben.
Woo Hoo - I are smrt![]()

so was this a bolt on\minor fiddling job to fit the throttle body?
how much bigger is the ID than the stock one?
was it worth the effort?
who said you couldnt make a ae86 rear quarter outa bog, fibreglass and expanding foam!!
I fitted a bored out (55mm) 4agze throttle body to mine and it makes an improvement, but if you have an airflow meter eqipped engine it's a big restiction aswell. I measured 4" of mercury vacuum between the stock (50mm) throttle body and the supercharger. That's just under 2psi pressure dropOriginally Posted by NFI

The 3S TB is 5mm bigger than the 4AGZE. The intake pipe has to be opened up with a die grinder to match and you'll need a 90 degree bend before the TB to the air filter. Other than that the bolt pattern, TPS and Idle motor plug are all the same besides the wire swap mentioned below.
I've done the mod in conjunction with a SC14 upgrade that isn't finished yet so i won’t really be able to gauge the effort vs. gain but if you search the forum and net you’ll find people swear by the mod.
Vic.
I've got a 3sgte throttle body and maybe a 3sge one also sitting in my shed for anyone who wants to do this upgrade... PM me
Ive heard of this conversion being done with a 4AGE throttlebody, but not a 3SGE one.
What are the differences between the two?
For a 4AGE throttle conversion, see http://jared.catspyjamasdesign.com/throttlebody.html (that pages is by TERRA Operative from this forum)

the 3sge has a stepper motor for idle control like the 4agze, the 4age throttle uses the wax pellet setup.
Thats about the only different. The design of the actual body differs a tiny bit on the face mating with the "plenum" but from what I saw puting a 4AGE next to a 3SGE one, the Throttle/butterfly ID was the same.Originally Posted by JP
Really, Either TB is good, but I guess if you want to keep your stock electric stepper motor 3SGE is the one!
