    Default 2JZGTE BOV Repair Guide

I'm sure many people have a leaking BOV on their 2JZGTE.

I took my spare BOV apart to repair / recondition it. Here is how I did it.

I removed the lid to find that the material that should have existed to seal against the seat was missing completely!

I made a new seal for the seat out of an old inner tube and used silicone to hold it in place.

And I then re-assembled the unit. To enable me to secure the lid in place I modified the lid so that the section that folds over was little tabs as opposed to one continuous section (see below picture).

I also used to silicone during the re-assembly process to ensure that it didn't leak.

    Cheers
    Wilbo

I'm awaiting mod permissions in the tech section so that i can copy threads like this to the FAQ. Very handy guide for anyone with a 2JZ.

Are the 2J ones run by a solenoid like the vvti 1j bretheren?

    No.

I don't have any personal experience with the VVTi 1JZ BOV, but I believe that it is the one with the solenoid? 1JZGTE non VVTi doesn't have a solenoid.

I dont have the vacc gauge with me atm, but I put a bike pump on the sucker and it sealed and popped ok, so I'm going with "it's tested and working". Seems reasonable.
