    Default W58 Conversion Question

    hey guys,
I am currently doing a W58 G/box convo on my AE86. I bought everything from AJPS.

    My query/question is:
Every picture of a W58 and variations i have looked at on the net, the Shifter Mount Plate has 6 mount bolt locations, 3 each side.

The box I have received, the shifter mount plate only has 4 bolt locations, ie; unable to swap for other shifter positions seen on the net?????
Where it would sit now, the stick would come out about under the stereo. Looking at the box on the ground next to the T50, the shifter sits way forward.

Meanwhile, the 4A-W58 bellhousing bolted right up and the clutch disc fits the spline.
Moving the stick fels like 5 speed and 1 reverse.

Dave, I think it is, has told me the box is a W58 from a turbo Supra, dont know what model

So, I just really would like to find out why mine only has 4 Shifter Mount Bolt locations, and all the others i've seen have 6????????
What model would this box be from?
Am I missing something obvious? Is the box wrong?

Any feedback/info/ help is much appriciated.....

Oh, and sorry, I dont have a camera

You're saying it doesn't look like the below pic?

Yet a W5x bellhousing bolts up?

    Cheers

No, it doesn't look like that. See how the ones in the pic have 6 bolt positions., mines a 4 bolt configuration. ie; looks differant

But yet, I have bolted the bellhousing to it, and the clutch disc is the right spline.
I havent fitted it just yet, still waiting on forks/bearing/clips etc......

    Shifter position is my issue.
I have done a google search to find pictures of other toyota gearboxes, and found nothing that had a shifter and mount plate like what I have.

    Iam really confused
    What box is it?
I will try to get a pic on my mates phone tomorrow

My understanding is that G5x gearboxes share the same bellhousing pattern as W5x Alloy... so yes, bellhousing should bolt up...

apparently G52 has same bellhousing bolt pattern as W55/57/58 - but the hilux box will have shite ratios.

So, am I right to say it's not a W58 if it only has 4 Shifter mount Plate positions.
Do I go back to the guy?

It certainly sounds like a G52 box . Easy way to tell is a G box has the revese light switch on the drivers side.
Shove it down his throat if it was sold to you as something its not.
