why not look at/link to their manufacturer websites, instead of egay ads?
edit: seems a bti sad Pulse having chicks on site to liven it up

i know batteries are boring but geez![]()
I have been looking at putting a smaller SLA in my car as opposed to a large old existing also want to relocate it.
Here are a few examples of cheaper SLAs as opposed to oddeseys I have so far been unimpressed with oddesey i feel alot of there asking price is a brand that is now trusted while i have seen batterys designed for power failue used in a car perform aswell as them
pulse
Full River
X-cell
Has anyone had any experience with any of these, i know full river are quite a popular brand as far as manufactoring of batterys (very popular with there Li-po products).
The pulse looks well presented but that doesnt mean it a good product.
and the X-cell looks... ebayish.
Any body used any of them and would like to share their experience??

OC, maybe the girl on the site has something to do with the paragraph 'introducing the girl...i mean battery' next to her (taken straight from the website..with a few changes):
"Introducing the new Pulse Hyperformance™ womenseries of sealed and maintenance free batteries, for all your starting and deep cycle applications.
The sealed design of Pulse Hyperformance batteries women offers users flexibility in multi-positional usage without the worry of acid leaks and spills. The high power density design offers superior cranking performance than an equally sized traditional flooded battery women."
Anyway back to topic, If there SLA and there of a certain CCA - that cant be all the factors can it not? What other influences make a 'better' SLA?
1977 RA28 with 1GGTE - Now Driveable! Just with speed holes and no doors
sorry but just to clarify SLA = sealed lead acid? or something else? i was under the impression that the odessey batterys weren't lead acid NiCd or NiMH? something like that...
either way, interested in the findings, i'll be going sealed battery next time around...

SLA = Sealed lead acid - which is not really the case as its infact a gel .. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gel_battery

Yeah i was going to say Gell cells but not everyone understands the terminology.
While i have seen (and will colate and post) all the manufactorers claimed discharge graphs and spec i understand the procedures used and its very easy to make your graph look better than it is by tweaking some unprinted numbers
i suppose in practice, it is less the specs that have an effect, but the shitness of how they were made, and the subsqeuent returns policy and acceptance of rooted cells...
length of warranty between the?

Bassicaly proper cell design and manufactoring procedure. Apart from being an obnoxious yellow colour i like the full river as i know they are well regarded in battery manufactoring.
here is the data sheet of teh fullriver. non of the others offer a full sheet

pulse just offers specs, although they are made by federal who have been around for abit
I helped replace a mates mx5 (Factory SLA) battery a few months ago.
Rang around a few places in Perth, found a brand 'Deka"

I think it worked out about $180 for a direct replacment.
(was quoted over $300 for an odassy)

I'd be interested to know if any of these 'sealed' batteries will work on their side or be safe inside the cabin without requiring an externally-vented battery box.
I know my Odyssey battery is rated to work in any orientation other than upsidedown - but it is a $300 battery.
Wonder how the CCA rating of similarly-sized Pulse and Odyssey batteries compares.
charles, apparently the sealed batteries are legally allowed inside a cock-pit area because they are sealed, hence they omit no (very small amouts of) vapours or gas... however i'm assuming there'd be an AS standard (or other) they'd have to comply with, then again, most engineers probably wouldn't know about it.

Stefan, the pulse X-cell and fullriver batteries all have teh same numbers in essence but that doesnt mean squat eg i could claim 1L per 100KMs from my 4age but we would all know its not true.
Also odyssey isnt a manufactorer but a reseller
Odysseys will work on the side but still need a vented box in a car to be legal even though they physically cant vent any furmes engineers will want it in a vented box to cover there asses
Dryfit or sonnerchein? are known to be one of the best SLA,s available , German i think
US made theres Hawker
Japanese made Hitachi are fantastic , i have one i bought new in 1994 and it still going strong.
Most of these are not for automotive use but any of the bigger ones with large terminals will work fine.
