Default Raising rev limit on 1JZ vvti???????

I know this is probably a searchable question, but please try and point me that way.

I have a completely stock ECUed 1JZGTE vvti in my car and I am happy a plenty with the power, but in the drifty series I run, I sometimes find myself between gears and needing 700 or so extra RPMs to pull me through to the next turn without an awkward up/downshift. I had this same problem when the RB20 was in the car, and raising the limter from 7600 to 8500 more than solved the problem. My question is... Is there ANY way other than a $1500 Power FC or similarly expensive product to get the extra revs I need on this 1J???

I have no more than about $500 US to throw at the issue... (sad, huh)

Is there a such thing as MINES tuned ECUs floating around for these engines, or are they completely untunable from the inside???

Does someone over there tune these ECUs if they are tunable?

    Help plz.

Hey mate, I've seen MINES tuned ROM for JZX100 on Yahoo JP auctions every now and then but very rarely. Sounds like the most popular tuning option in Japan for these engines were the Apexi Power FC and maybe the HKS F-Con.

What car is the engine in?

the mines ecu's do exisit but like mentioned before they are pretty rare.

look around on some of the soarer forums and you might find one
As they say in the book, assembly is the reverse of dismantling, but slower cos you forgot where all the bits are

    Sweet, well sorta, LOL.

Atleast I know the Mines things are not imaginary for these now.

    Thanks all!

HKS F-Con or any of that mess cant raise rev though, right?

wouldn't a different diff ratio be a cheaper way to work on this?

Yeah, but I am not sure which way to go with the ratio because each has it's disadvantages, and I am not even sure that what I think I need is available...

I guess I could get the 4.3 setup and try 3rd gear almost all the time,..

I prob dont need to go with a higher (numerically lower) gear because that will prob jus leave me wanting for more power...even though it IS a 1J and more power is oh so easy. hehe.

...besides, I just liked the way my RB felt after the 900rpm jump, and now the ECU that did this is in my room mate's car and I love drifting it...poo. I guess I could have worse problems, haha.

Haha, kinda. I have enjoyed a bunch of good luck with RB20s though... I just couldnt bear putting in ANOTHER frankensteined transmission. I was blowing up 3rd gear like daily (well, almost). I was up to 1 event = 1 trans and 2 weeks of "street" driving = 1 trans.... Arrrrr. I never had much trouble with the engines. I sure do LOVE all of this torque with the 1j though!!!..and if everyone is telling the truth, I am gonna have a heck of a time blowing up this thing.

I really gotta find myself a tuned ecu.....

Nah, that wont get me into a corner faster without hitting the limiter or changing gears.

    Thanks though.
