the way I see it the system of the old forum still exists, it's just moved to pm, but can only favour those that have earned the right to post.

For instance if you want to sell something, a club member or someone who has contributed can do it easilly.

If someone wants to buy that... great!!! Anyone can, you can contact the seller by PM, this also stops people flaming your sale.

If you want to buy something that no one has advertised... great!!! If you are a club member or someone who has hung around and contributed you can post up and any kind person who may see the thread and can help out can... via PM!!!

I've found with my own experience 75% of things get sold through PM anyway as negotiations are much easier without the flamers!!!

    EDIT: typos

Thumbs up Re: Do you have to pay membership to post in forsale section?

valid points. Altho flamers can be a benifit in some rare cases, unrealistic prices etc. then you have those that flame the flamers for flaming. It ends up bieng self organised in a way.

Ok i'll shuddup and finish with saying- I can see this level of organisation of toymods is good. I do like it.

Problem is, most people don't spread reputation around as well as they should IMHO.

from my own observations, you (ME) mostly loose rep when u either:
    1) neg rep sombody
    2) post some dumb shit
    3) ask for rep
    4) post something not relative
    and
    5) people got bored and everyone neg reps u just to make it burn more.
you can do anything at http://www.zombo.com/
    the only limitation is yourself

And from my own observations, you (ME) mostly GET rep when you either:
    1) Give someone rep
    2) Complain someone has taken rep away from you unfairly
    3) You post something funny

Not so much for posting usefull information

havent got any neg reps for posting anything useless, all neg reps have been in retaliation(sp?) for giving someone else neg rep which i felt was warranted, so rather then get a mod to look at a rep they give out there own.
not that ive posted anything technical, when i have helped someone out rarely get rep

maybe rep's should only be allowed in the technical and car discussion sections where it counts?

I'll contest the last point. I earned a stack of points in my "RA25 differences to the RA28" thread. And, most of my other points came from offering helpful hints or technical and automotive advice. I get the occasional point for my witty repartee.

There are people out there who haunt the techncial sections and will gladly give you good rep for posting something that is deemed useful to them and others. That's the place you go to get the most rep points - but be warned, these areas of the forums also taketh away if you post dribble or your post is inaccurate.

I assume you drive/own a Toyota? There must be things you have done to the car or things you know about your car that may be useful to other people. I also assume you drive? If so you can also offer driving experiences and other things. I'm sure you're not a vacuous person and, like all of us, will have something to offer and be rewarded for it.

Problem with that is people cant neg rep someone posting unsuitable material in this section for example. But then theres the opposite with threads where people are pushing personal opinions though (as not everyone agrees) and they can -ve rep unfairly there. But its all a compromise I suppose.

Heh heh. I find I don't get rep points for my usefull stuff though. Yes, I own a toyota (read my sig) and I drive. If you do, that's good.

I apologise in advance for OT response.

Nim, whether or not stuff we write is "useful" will be judged by the other people using these forums - not ourselves. I have yet to give you rep as I mostly find wading through what you've written tiring and of no use whatever. I have very nearly given you neg rep everytime I read your sig though. (7319prm please).
I am posting this here because I read that you would appreciate comments here in a public format.

Again to the other post users - apologies for making OT post.

210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.
