    Default Electrical Problem.

Last night on the way home from work in the Corona, I noticed that the right blinker was blinking twice the rate that it normally blinks and the left blinker was normal. When I got home and switched the headlights off the parking lights stayed on, even when the ignition was off and the key was out. I had to disconnect the battery to turn them off. This morning I checked a few things like fuses and such and found no problems that are obvious, cleaned up a few terminals and stuff but the problem is still there when the battery is reconnected. Anyone got any ideas of what could be the problem?

blinking faster is a fail mechanism of newer cars, to let you know that you have blown a bulb.

in older cars with simple flasher can, if one of the wires shorts out, then more current goes thru the flasher can, and it heats up faster and flashes faster.

if all the bulbs are still flashing as normal, then maybe one of the wires/fittings has shorted out??

if the parkers stayed on, then they are accidentally getting power from somewhere.
the ground side is thru the body, so it doesn7t matyter if they are accidentalyl getting grounded after the bulb... the short must be before the bulb on the power side.

i would first look at the light switch itself.. maybe it is borked internally..

then i would start looking at the wires running from switch to each light and see if any have chafed thru or melted....

Had the same problem on 91 mr2, literally fixed it 5 minutes ago (took me about 4 minutes to fix ;P) with a pair of $7 phillips automotive bulbs from autobarn. Good on me ey? (*douche*) Change the bulbs, if that doesnt ammend the situation...(oldcorollas has explained it better than i possible could)
