    Default thermo fan problem

    hey everyone

i'm having a slight problem with my thermo fans and extractor set up in my ST162 celica.

whats happening is the heat from the extractors is radiating pretty badly and so its actually causing my thermo fan blades to warp/bend. i've already gone through a set of fans from this problem.

i'm just wondering if there's maybe a metal fan/fan blades i could substitute for the plastic stock ones......or if i could perhaps wrap the extractors up in that exhaust heat tape?

or if anyone else could suggest a cheap way of getting around this problem?

you can get thin aluminium sheet, often called stucko... and just make a barrier out of that. The heat will radiate onto that, then dissapate evenly, so as not to concentrate the heat onto your thermos. Keep it about halfway between the 2, and solidly mount it so the thermos dont blow it around.

you could grab the front-mount thermo-fan of an ST (3SFE) model. If you've got aircon tho you'll need to nab the front air con lines and regas your system... so not really a cheap solution.

They sell heat sheild material (like on the AU+ falcon exhaust manifolds) at supercheap, its about $50 for a 1x1 metre square.

Exhaust wrap, and alloy shields. For the sheild you only need a 1mm sheet which you can get from any Alu manufacturer/reseller.
