On top of the engine from memory, potentially on top of where the filter normally mounts, looking at that pic i've no idea how the oil feed side of things works, maybe threads onto the oil filter spot somehow, but that doesnt explain the bolts on the bottom nor does it look like that would cater for sealing the face of it

Not sure the JZ ones offer much in the way of cooling though under track conditions from what I've seen. More in place to heat the oil quicker from cold start.
Yeah.. While heating the oil quicker is a bonus, its not my primary reason for doing this - maybe i'm dreaming hoping that there is a unit that will achieve a degree of both ?

I might be trying one on one of my racing cars.
I assume that from the factory this runs between the block and the oil filter? Would you be running it this way or mounting it elsewhere?

Would running it against the block just mean the heat of the block will make it impossible for it to do much in the way of cooling?

Yeah they sit between the block & filter.
As long as you have plenty of water passing through it, it'll cool just fine I'd say.

Where would i plumb it into the cooling system?

Next time i see the car i'll check my oil filter clearance to see if this is viable..

There's a couple of ways to do it -
    - Tap into the exit of the water pump, where the pressure is the highest on the cool side, then plumb that through the cooler and then back into the hot side.
    - Make a unit that fits into the cool water pipe into the water pump that has a small scoop, to pick up water.
    - In either case, where you tap the hot water pipe back into the radiator .... I'm going to make up a bit of alloy pipe that has a small venturi in it and it'll help suck the water through that way.
