When I sold it to him it had an LSD.
Not sure if it was still working as an LSD or if it was worn out and acting open centre, but it definitely had an LSD centre.

It is known that the surface of the block can be a problem for old M engines purportedly due to a dissimilar metal issue with the gaskets. Pitting and rust does not make for a good seal. The block should be resurfaced if in doubt.

It would be great if there was a portable bolt on block surface grinder and a means of stopping the abrasives from getting into places it shouldn't - but there ain't.

So to do a good job, if in the case of corroded block surface, pull the engine and (check available tolerances) strip it down and send the block off to be skimmed, new welsh plugs, head bolt hole threads cleaned up, bores checked etc. New oil seals, gaskets etc.

Doing it once is cheaper than twice but getting half way and having only half a budget sucks.

Service intervals for an engine may not have been met - chains may be stretched, belts worn, guides worn etc.

You can try cutting corners but errors accumulate.

Are you going to use new head bolts?

    You might get lucky!

And by the time you've done all that, a 2JZGE conversion will be easier, cheaper, and better!

Very true. The biggest cost in the 2JZGE conversion is the 2JZ and the bellhousing/flywheel. The rest of it is pretty standard.
ECU wiring even isnt particularly hard.

    Don't waste your time.

Unless you can remove the end tanks and rod the core (which you can't) you'll be doing nothing more than flushing it, which does nothing more than clear the old coolant. Then you're going to run that goopy sealant crap through the cooling system (which may block any cores that are already partially blocked).

Just run the stop leak to get you by and when you decide to fix the problem properly by whatever means then get your radiator professionally cleaned at the same time.

I read the for sale thread for the car you're buying, I sincerely hope you got it cheap.

    Best of luck.

You need to figure out what it wrong first before you attempt to fix it.

Those products only work if its has blown between a cylinder and the water jacket.

But buy a bottle of Seal Up, and follow the instructions.
