    Default JZA70/Z20 Rear Camber ?

    Hey all,

Since smashing the soarer into the tyre wall at collie and repairing the damage, i have found that to align the wheels again is difficult due to this section being loose/worn ?:

Im unsure of what its called but i need that RING thing that rotates around when adjusting Toe/Camber arms on both rear sides replaced as it seems to just slip past the mounts that help it push arms in and out due to wearing down (i guess ?) . Wether it be Aftermarket or stock replacement i need both rear toe and rear camber ring things....

Can someone please tell me what its called so i can ask for it in the wanted section or search yahoo auctions.

    Cheers.

They're just a concentric washer for camber adjustment. Toe is adjusted by the tie-rod ends. There's probably millions of those washers floating around in peoples garages.
I'll have some on this pos soarer Im pulling apart if you're desperate enough to pay postage costs from Qld to WA. Im sure there'll be someone close to you with them though, surely?

    Thanks John + Drifted

Have you ever heard of these wearing out ? or could my Wheel Alignment place be talkin crap.

Coz when they were attempting to align the wheels, the guy would rotate the bolt/washer, and it would get to a certain point (lets say negative 2.2 deg camber) then when trying to reduce camber more it would "Slip" out or something and the arm would pop back out...

Keep in mind Drifted, my car has had like 6 wheel alignments since ive had it (2.5 or so years) and probably like 10 more before then.

Coz its either that or the camber arms are bent ?..

Hopefully someone in perth is wrecking a supra/z20 ... but probably unlikely

The entire setup is available new from Toyota, the bolt, rings, washers and nut are all available individually.

However they are highly unlikely to have warn out. Bear in mind that the way they are designed, is that you rotate the bolt to push the lower arm in/out (bolt acts like a camshaft and moves the arm as you turn it) but it will get to a certain point at the peak of the curve on the concentric washers where it will not push out any further and will in fact start pulling back in again.

If your car is lowered or banged up, its highly likely that you will go past this point before getting the adjustment you need, hence why adjustable arms are useful.

But also bear in mind that the two "tabs" that these concentric washers act on are merely bent metal on the subframe, and are known to get flattened out if some twonk has a go at doing your wheel alignment. Best thing to do is get under there yourself, remove the concentric washers, get a hammer and whack the tabs back up so they are perpendicular to the subframe surface again, and drop a small bead of weld in behind them to stop them bending flat again. This should improve the range you can achieve through a wheel alignment on the factory gear.

Apparently I was advertising in my signature, where I just thought I was helping out others... so if you want to know how to get more steering lock in your A70/Z20 Supra/Soarer, you'll just have to search, don't ask me, apparently I'm not allowed to tell you.
