Once you make one part looks clean and tidy and painted it looks out of place unless everything is like that. I like the 'original' look it has

Hah yer, I was wondering when ppl would point that out...

I actually have another set of covers which I am in the process of cleaning up.
(just getting sick of cleaning shit).

I was going to have a chat with a few ppl about cam work and then change em to some
textured red & milled silver finish
"For the performance 5MGE model upgrade JDM Red Top Special drift edition etc....grin"

Just hangin out to drive it again~!

Smile The Mighty 5M Lives again!!!

    Been busy this weekend,
Installed engine on Saturday, hooked up about %75 of the hoses / wires.
Installed tail-shaft, filled gearbox…. drip drip F*#n new rear gearbox seal leaks…
Pull t/s out, inspect seal. yep looks ok, check the measurements, damn supplied seal is 1.5mm to large on the seal side
Looked at spare (new) camshaft seal, hmmm, extracted gearbox seal, measured up looks like it should do the job…

Sunday, installed new camshaft / gearbox rear seal, re-filled box no drips Whoo!
Installed remaining hoses / electrics, installed my custom thermo fan controller box thingy, cleaned up a few other wiring bits n pieces.
Filled up engine oil (5.7L worth for dry fill). no drips.. cool.
Filled up cooling system Bloody water pump is weeping ever so slightly, GOD DAMN IT!!! was a fairly new pump too…. will fix later....

About ½ hour ago, triple checked all hoses / electrics, cranked engine round by hand a couple more times. Ran a no-ignition test to get oil pressure up, appears ok.
Ignition on, crank BRooooomm!!!, fired up 1st time, didn’t even have to stuff around with the ignition timing.
Sounds like a bloody diesel though. I think the lifters are not ‘lifting’ so good, hoping they will come good when I do a full warm up run tomorrow, will also get hold of
an oil pressure gauge to make sure its up to spec, and it is ideling waay to high (about 2200rpm), with the screws all the way in, will double check for leaks later...

So far so good(ish), bit miffed about the water pump, as it never showed signs of trouble before, Will post up some U tube 1st startup footage later…

    Another quick update,

Checked over the ignition timing / vac lines, oil pressure (~60psi)
Fired it up yesterday, let it work up for about 5 min, the rattle went away ! yay !

Adjusted the thermo fan controller kit to switch once it was fully warmed up,
went for a quick test drive up the road, still not %100, tends to surge a little
I think this may be part due to my TPS been near on rooted.

Any one have a old 5M tps (switch type) handy?
Have attempted to glue it back together, but dont think it will last. The plastic has gone really brittle.

Just a few little bits n pieces to re attach and will be finished, finally!

Hi GA61, whats the difference on the ECU for a MA67??
    May be interested.
I do have the whole engine wire harness for the 'newer' (digital?) model 5mge (with stepper motor icv & manifold)
Do they all run the same ignition system?
