urgant r154 question

i recently baught a rebuild kit for my R154 on driftmotion.com

the gearbox and kit have been at the rebuilder, and he just rang me and said the 5th gear syncro isnt the right size for the hub, about 1mm too big. it goes on but its really tight and may bind up under heat?

anyone know what i can do? the syncro that was in it isnt reusable apparently

i was planning to put the box back in on saturday!

EDIT: he just rang back, and i said there wasnt any problem shifting into 5th previously, so if worst comes to worst just put the 5th syncro back in!

There is at least 2 if not more possible choices of synchros for 5th gear. I had the same issue. If worse comes to worse I have "one" of the genuine Toyota synchros brand new for sale. As to whether it fits, would have to measure it I guess!!
