Don't know what else is suitable mate, the original is very expensive I think around $140 mark anyway the order number is CAGE ASSY, OIL PRESSURE SENDER 83520-30010-
So I have acquired a GT oil temp gauge for my TA22 and have a few questions on what sender can I use with this? Obviously the factory one will work but I don't have one.
This will be used on my 3sgte with an aftermarket oil adapter block that allows for 2 gauge senders.
1. Is there any other toyota model that I can steal a sender off?
2. Anyone have a part number for the stock sender so I can try Toyota?
3. Anyone got the specs for the sender so I can try to get an aftermarket one that has the same resistance range so it will work with the gauge.
Thanks

when i had my 75 gtv celica my 1 stopped working so we used a water temp sensor ,but it wouldnt fit into the block near fuel pump so i made it fit into the sump and put back the std sensor back in the block ,so try that
Sweet good idea. Lucky I kept the water temp senders from the 2t & 3t motors that I junked. I will have to cut and weld the sump anyway so I can drill and weld in a fitting.
VDO gauge sender from a T18 P/N 231.084
3sge series 1 senders also are compatible i believe ..
i\unconfirmed but if you can find one at pick a part for a few bucks its worth testing !

DER!!! on my behalf, I think it might be 83570 Gage, Oil Temp Sender, that is all I can find.
Came across these pics maybe they are the one you are after:

That definitely looks like the water temp sender to me. maybe the oil temp is identical.
I actually use a standard TA22 water temp sender with a TA22 water temp gauge to monitor my oil temp. Just welded a bung into the sump and put the extra gauge in the dash where the 2 lights normally sit. Works a treat.
they probably are the same senders,....they both do the same job as temp senders, except one for oil and one water.....lol!
for your information, speco water temp and oil temp senders are both the same......same part number.... (to suit aftermarket speco gauges....)
Sweet thanks guys.
I have just remembered that I can check in the workshop manual to see if the water temp and oil temp guages have the same operating resistance as the workshop manuals usually have this kinda info and if they are the same then all is go.
Or else I can just hook up 12v to the sender and the gauge and put the sender in a saucepan of boiling water and see what the gauge reads. Also using a separate thermometer to see if it is reading correctly.
I just found where you got these from. The seller says they are unsure whether it is an oil or water temp sender.Originally Posted by Rosey
But as above, it would make sense that it wouldn't matter as long as the resistance and temp range suit your gauge.
