    Unhappy 1JZ MX83 still running like a bag... HELP!!!

    Ok so about 2 weeks ago my car started running bad intermittently and dropping cylinders... at the time i thought it was ecu so i replaced the one capacitor that was leaking and thought the problem was fixed but a day later the problem started again, diagnosed it as coilpacks because they were arcing out to the head, and when we checked plugs no. 3 and 5 plugs were wet with fuel. so i bought some other coilpacks from the wreckers and tried them... seemed to fix the problem didnt have trouble for another 2 days then the problem started again... so im under the impression that it isnt a coilpack issue cause 3 and 5 cylinders are still the ones being dropped... i know its ignition/spark because if i drive while the cylinders are dropped my eyes burn from the fuel... So can anyone please help me with my problem or if these run a waste spark setup or something... Help is much appreciated

    The motor is a JZX81 motor and only mods are 3 inch mandrel exhaust everything else is stock...

    Cheers Nathan

    hey mate. I know its a long shot, but have you thought maybe its your injectors? Maybe leakin bad? Change the coilpacks from cyl to cyl and see if the problem follows? Hope this helps mate.

    yeah doubt its the coilpacks because it is dropping the same cylinders as before... but ill give that a try... and with the injectors it seems to be getting fuel and not spark cause its pumping fuel out the exhaust when the miss happens... i'll start by swapping the coilpacks around if that doesnt fix it ill take the injectors out and get them tested and see if i can find a problem... oproblem is its very intermittent so hard to get the fault oocuring when i want to test it but also makes the car extremely difficult to drive... so any other ideas would be greatly appreciated...

    Agreed, if the caps have the same body (ie. brand) then replace all. Even if there aren't many, it's not like it's hard.

    yeh, replace all 5, i could only see one dead one in my ecu but when wilbo removed them 3 or 4 were fucked

    mine did the same thing as yours, it hung injectors 3 and 5 wide open and dumped all the fuel in the cylinders and couldnt ignite it

    do that first, cheapest way out of it

    then if that doesnt work, then resin coat the coils {search for those instructions}

    Check the coils more carefully, the cracks can be hard to spot, and are usually under the rubber boots.
