The T1R is fine on the street and quite good in the wet as it has massive channels (which I think is one of its downfalls on the track when pushed hard). On my car I find them very predictable at least.

The MX-5 had them on when I bought them so take my comments with a grain of salt because I don't know what sort of life they've led.

But I find the sidewalls way too soft, they don't communicate and they're not progressive. They'll just snap out without any warning.
They do grip well though. It's just what happens when the grip is overcome that I have issues with.

They also go off really quickly when you're attacking the twisties.

That's funny Max because on mine the T1R's break away so progressively I find it very easy to find the limit and stick to to it (albeit the limit is not as good as some of the other tyres mentioned). They do need high pressures though to deal with the flimsy sidewalls.

I guess different cars, different setups and different driving styles all play a part too.

A big agreement on going off quite quickly, but compared to other similar spec street tyres tyres like the old Dunlop FM901 they retained a usable level of grip even once overheated. On a 40+ minute session on a 35 degree day at Wakefield massacred them but they still worked ok, especially as they are not even designed for that sort of use.

Yeah, I found the pressures help a lot. Probably due to the soft sidewalls.

When I first got the MX-5, they had 27psi in them. I've steadily upped them to 34psi now and have found improvements but I'm a bit loathe to go too far in a light car.
What pressures did you run in yours?

As I said before, it could have something to do with the life they've lived as well...

After a lot of playing around with pressures on the T1R's they needed a cold temp of 36 for the track, anything less and they flip fopped around so loudly on the front it sounded like you had a flat tyre on hard cornering.

For reference: The car weighs ~980kg with driver.

The Kumho V70A were happy with a hot temp of about 38 at the track and felt like the car had pin point accurate steering compared to the T1R's. On the street though for the first few KM's of a drive the V70A feel like driving on wooden tyres until they softened, very noisy and fairly stiff sidewalls.

I'll give 36psi a go. Not that I'll be having them on the car for much longer...

But yeah, there are lots of variables like suspension tune, vehicle weight, and driving style... It's always difficult getting opinions on tyres.

Even with the same car... There a 5 Liberty guys with RT615s that I know. 4 love them, 1 hates them.

I love it how everyone has a different opinion on what tyre is best

Makes life bloody hard when choosing tyres! I might sample the 275 R888 (simply because the RT615 doesn't come in 275 in aus, I think)

I would love a set of R888s but highway driving kills them very quickly and 80% of my driving is at 80km/h-120km/h.

I think we can all agree the Bob Jane Allrounder is an outstanding tyre and very at home on a spirited drive or lap of a track.

offset is the variation of the rim mounting face from the centre of the rim.
