    Default coolant refill on 1jz

    g'day...
im just wondering what the correct way to fill up coolant is on a 1jz.
I've flushed it all out and plan to put 50/50 mix of red coolant and demineralised water. I was just wondering where i should put the mix?

I havent done this to a car with the thermostat on the bottom radiator hose. So i'm thinking, while cold, the bottom radiator hose is closed from the motor. So should i fill it up through the top hose, instead of the radiator??

I fill mine though the radiator with the heater tap hose disconnected at the heater tap.

I fill it until coolant starts to come out of the heater hose and then connect it to the tap.

Once that's done I use a 2L coke bottle with the bottom cut off and the neck taped up so it's a snug fit in the radiator filler. I fill the bottle halfway up with coolant and run the engine until it's up to temp and the the thermostat opens to get any last bubbles out.

50/50 mix is correct as thats whats stated on the bottle. demineralised water is always better than tap water.

i always premix the two parts into a jug or large bottle, so there is never uneven quantities.

once i have the premix, with the car switched off and engine cold i fill the radiator untill its totally full, then i start the car and turn on the heater to full heat. you will notice the engine will take a lot of the coolant. i then simply stand by the car while its warming up, and constantly top up the radiator untill it wont take any more coolant at operating temp. i then fill the overflow bottle to the designated mark and fit the radiator cap.

you can blip the throttle every now and then and check for air bubbles but dont rev it too much as it will just pump the coolant out of the radiator.

ive done this several times now and never had any type of overheating problem.
