Ha if I had $$ to spend I would but gotta try and make do with what I got.

The easy way it would all work is a 12mm flat bar across the caliper bolted to the caliper mounts.
A 17mm spacer that sits in between the caliper mounting points (butted up against the flat plate).

Then this whole assembly bolts to the original caliper mounting points on the strut. So the bolts would go through the flat plate, through the spacer and into the original mounts.

But then the question comes up about how strong it is and all. In my members ride thread it has been suggested the load might be too much as the caliper is now offset from the original mounting points.

Though what I cant get my head around is that the caliper mounting point is still perfectly in line with the original mounting points on the strut, it's just that because the holes are inside of the caliper mounting points, you need the spacer to make up the thickness of the caliper mounting points.

    Probably sounds confusing!

Joel, having wandered around the paddock at the Noosa hillclimb recently, i think what you're proposing to do is commonly done in hillclimb specials and sprint cars... but with a solid chunk of alloy or steel.

I'd suggest starting out with a thick slab and only mill down the areas where the caliper mounts sit

Woohoo if I can find a DBA275 rotor (283mm diameter, 22mm thick, 27.5 total height) I can run a flat bracket on the RA28 strut. YES very excited. Can't beleive how perfect this rotor is for the RX7 caliper.

Its also from a Peugeot 306 N5 series. Seems a bit rare as google turns not much up at all.

But i wanna know the channel seal size ID OD and width,
You know the seal that goes in the fluid channel before you bolt the 2 caliper halves together

Guys, just posted this in Takai's coilover/pug brake guide, but thought it was also appropriate here....

So I dare say I'll be opting for the slotted DBA option and ordering them next week....

    Cuzzo,
Im not sure what you mean
    I was quoted:
DBA slotted - $140 each rotor
RDA nonslotted - $60 each rotor

    Therfore DBA were more expensive.

You can get the RDA's slotted, I got mine from Lee's Performance Parts and they were much cheaper than the DBA's, just had to wait a week for them to be made up.

Slotted costs more than non-slotted. How much for DBA non-slotted?

Your on the right track by using the RX7 caliper - thats exactly what i did on the front of my TA22 although i used a set of Willwood 13" disks and Bendix Ultimate pads. A mate of mine did the machining for me and replicated the setup he used on the front of his club car - all up with brand new disks, reconditioned calipers, new pads and machining was under $1k. The results are nothing short of amazing. Stand on the brakes and it wants to send you through the windscreen - people are almost more impressed by the breaking on my car than the acceleration.

I will get some pics of the conversion up on my site ASAP and post the link.

Anyone ordered pug disks recently in Brisbane? have got the struts and calipers (tho am still trying to find where-the-hell i left the 2nd XT130 hub) so i just need the disks and pads.

I was going to try ABS out past jindalee and budget autoparts at oxley (becuase they're pretty good at ordering stuff in) for prices.

    cheers and tia,
    Charles.

edit: Rang ABS at Mt Ommeny

DBA272 - $153ea (unslotted), plenty of stock available in warehouse, retail price.
Machining: $77/hour (approx 30mins per disk)
