    A few things I'd check

If the reverse switch in the gearbox is working:
    >Unplug the gearbox reverse switch plug
    >Use a multimeter to check that the pins on the plug are connected when in Reverse, and not connected when in any other position.

Check to see if you have power to the gearbox reverse switch:
    >You should have power to one side of the gearbox reverse switch, if the car was previously auto it will be the wire that was used as the common power to the gear position indicator switch.

Check to see if the other side of the reverse switch is connected to the reverse lights.

Check to see that the reverse light bulbs aren't blown.

Check to see that the side of the reverse light bulbs that doesn't go to the gearbox reverse switch goes to ground

    Hope this helps...

    Cheers

Lol abit confusing but will check with a mutimeter.

Yeah the car was originally auto. hrmm i have been reading it through like 3 times now but still dont really get what you trying to say for this bit lol (if the car was previously auto it will be the wire that was used as the common power to the gear position indicator switch.)

Cheers for the help anyways mate +rep

    OK.

You know the rather large plug that used to go to the position indicator bit on the side of the auto gearbox? The bit that the shifter linkage connected to?

On the plug that goes to the auto gearbox position indicator will be a wire that has the power that should be switched to the reverse lights...

When the car was auto, the position indicator switch was used to 'switch' the common power to the other pins... i.e. power goes to the auto position switch on a pin, and when the shifter is in D if comes out on another pin, and when in R another pin, and so forth for all the other gears

    Does that make sense?

Which other bits do you find confusing?

    Cheers
