Steer clear of the Dellhousings, or dellends.

They don't. I have forgotten how many times I have asked. Or maybe I'm not asking the right questions.

You'll need more dosh for little extras like clutch lines, etc, and any adaptors you need to make.
You probably could get a flywheel and clutch for $1200 but you have to do all the design work yourself - any mistakes will mean you have to fork out more money.

My suggestion is to use the CRS housing, and a better flywheel etc.
The flywheel is not bad, other than being heavy. The quality of the steel is good, as is the machining. Much better than a factory cast unit. Once you nuke the extra weight it's fine.
If I was to do it again, I'd probably opt for an auto adaptor plate with a tilton throwout bearing, mainly coz of the lack of space around the headers - but then you have the headache of making everything fit (as opposed to the headache of making a really really short bleed nipple ). I would probably investigate more clutch options, but I would not sacrifice driveability for having something exotic.

If you want to go el cheapo, a 3SGTE flywheel can be made to fit by slotting the holes (if you don't mind not having ankles).

Im pretty sure Ed was talking in the one hundreds for two of them. Probably just before that kicking and screaming post about having to pull the gearbox out to machine down the adaptor again.

yeah but ed also happens to find things alot cheaper than most ppl.

tilton throwout is around the $400 mark new from memory and the price varies depending on if you want a cast or billet version.

mos, i could have got a H/D clutch made but you never gave me the dimensions i needed,
not to mention the fact that you would have whinged if you needed more than your left pinky toe to push it to the floor

If you dont want to use a Tilton one, then use a Saab 9000 one, they are $98ea trade price from Adelaide Clutch (as much as i can dislike them)

Lower stack height than the Tilton too, a few of the Formula cars over here use them.

Decent flywheels can be had for well under $500.
A decent full face organic clutch can be had for easily $300. (assuming you stay NA)
The CRS bellhousing last I checked was $400-450.

    So there is $1200-$1300 tops...
    And it all works.

I'm pretty sure the Alloy Race Components 1UZ Flywheels are about that...

Okay, I'm not crazy - both of the ones Ed got were around the $200 mark (just rang Ed and the dude that got the other one).

So there is a $100 solution, just not the tilton one....

Be that as it may, it helps using actual numbers, does it not?

Yes, and Adelaide clutch got all the measurements and still fkd it up. It's not an off the shelf pressure plate, and no matter how many measurements you give someone they will still screw it up the first time. Ever considered that I didn't wanna pay to keep getting stuff shipped across back and forth?

The CRS clutch plate and pressure plate are over $300 (can't remember how much exactly). So while something standard (like a hilux) might be had for less, it's smaller in diamater (240ish vs 254mm) but obviously you'd get whatever suits the flywheel.

    $480 (valid at 11:38am EST 22/05/08).

    And it all works.
Cltuch slave? Pushrod? Fork? Pivot? Bolts? Release Bearing? Bearing clips?
Sure if you have a complete gearbox a lot of that will come off it, but if you buy a bare box it won't have anything on it and you will have to come up with parts to make it work - especially the slave which isn't exactly a one size fits all proposition....

How sure is "pretty sure"? "Rang to buy one" "pretty sure"? or "read on the net" "pretty sure"?
I know how much Ed paid for his, and I know how much they quoted me when I rang to buy one ($770). I don't know how much the groupie organised by someone here (Mrshin?) ended up costing, but figures in the $500s are floating around in my head, but that is for a number of them and not just a one off.

A slave is $25 new so I don't think thats ever going to be an issue.
And the release bearing comes with the clutch kit so thats also not an issue.
But yes, the fork and bearing clips are the hassle if you did buy a bare box.
