    Default 1jz r154 in z20 question

    as in title, ive got a *z20 1jz and r154, top mount gt35r, 3inch dump

    okay, my gearbox shit itself. suspected thrust washer and front bearing

    ive got a rebuild kit and custom made thrust washer, the problem is getting the gearbox out! my uncle is a mechanic and will be doing it for me, but the dump pipe pretty much covers the middle bolt on the right hand side of the bell housing ( will get pics if i can ) also the dump is hard against the firewall so it cant go back or side to side ( unless its a flange and not studs ). Apart from taking the turbo off the manifold which i dont want to do, i guess i could cut the dump off and get it re welded on i only got to drive it for 2 weeks!

    suggestions?

    not to sure, im having similar issues with mine, but as im replacing a turbo, ive decided to pull the whole lot out. much easier as the dump pipe is a pain to get to. In saying that i had some flex pipe put in there which made things a bit easier

    sorry im a newb
    but how long would it roughly take to get the turbo and lines off the manifold roughly? everything is easy to get too. although id like to re do the down pipe in stainless or something while im there

    not to sure, have you got a pic of your set up. mines pretty different to everyone elses on here with 2 sequential t28s so you should have a bit more room.

    To take a gt35 off wouldn't take very long. I would
    drain radiator
    take off water lines
    take off inlet pipe
    take off oil lines if accessable
    undo 4 bolts on turbo flange
    undo 4 bolts on dump pipe (or vband)

    then pull it out

    heres the engine bay in question, ignore the piping layout its all guess work for the real stuff

    ha, the cooler pipe will be lower a fair bit, but thats the basic way its got to go and then through the "floor" instead of around the rail. id like to clock the turbo but thats another story
