    Default Remote battery terminals

I'm finally getting around to finishing my remote battery install that I started last year on my Hilux (RN85). Last year I move the battery to under the tray and connected it up, but because it is right in the center it is hard to reach. I always intended on installing remote terminals to make it easier to jumpstart or recharge but have only now gotten around to it. So here's what I have so far and what I intend to do.

The battery has a single ground and a 4 +ve leads, 1 for the starter motor, 1 for the stereo and ancillaries, 1 for the fuse box and 1 for the A/C, EFI and fans.

I have 1 stainless bolt for the +ve remote terminal (I couldn't get brass), and a kill switch.

I want to have a +ve terminal post and a kill switch mounted in a plastic box with an easily removeable lid.

I don't want to have to run new cables and not all the +ve cables will reach the spot that I want to mount the remote box (only the ansilaries and fuse box will reach.

I'm going to run the -ve cable from the battery to kill switch before it terminates on the chassis. For the +ve, I'm going to cut the +ve post into the fuse box cable and move the ancilaries to the +ve post to reduce the number of cable coming off the battery. I'll draw up a circuit diagram tomorrow to make it easier to understand what I'm talking about.

How does this sound, does anyone see a problem with it? I still have to find a suitable box too, so if anyone knows a company that can help me out with it, I'd really appreciate it.

    Cheers
    Dave

Add more grounds. Either use a distro block and split them up around the engine bay and chassis or run multiple grounds directly from the -'ve of the battery. Sort of like an earth kit but don't spend some obscene amount.

JP got some ceramic distribution posts for his AE71, they looked like they did the job really well, not sure where he got it from though, I forget.

thought about using an "anderson connector"?
or just a remote post setup off a BMW?

the idea above looks good but i don't see a need for the remote post for the earth as there would be soooo many components that you could hook the earth to if you needed a jumpstart.

    cheers

High current anderson connectors are the shit. Buy from Jaycar.

Stainless bolts should be fine for the remote terminal. Yeah, I don't know why I had the -ve post in there.

Is the kill switch fine on the -ve side? What side does it normally go on?

I'd still like a box to house the switch and ve terminal post. It would need to be at least 120x75x65mm; would prefer plastic and it would have to have a lid that can be quickly removed.

Where would this Anderson connector go? If I'm interpreting your post correctly, it would replace the terminal posts, yes?

Anderson plugs are the best. Mount it any where you want and yes, it would replace your terminal posts. You just need a set of jumper leads with an anderson plug on the end to plug into your car. We had these mounted on places around my old work ute for jump starting from. Made life much easier.
Also, main switch will be fine on the earth but I would put the terminal post or anderson plug (whichever you choose) on the battey side of the switch. That way you can charge your battery and still have the switch off and there is also no chance of mistakenly jump starting the car with the switch off, which could cause damage to your alternator, ecu, etc when you disconnect your jumper leads. Hope that bit makes sense.

Ok I've removed the -ve post as I can just coonect sraight to the chassis where the -ve is connected.
