Thanks for the concern guys, whilst holidaying in Phuket my heart went into sustained ventricular tachycardia (240+bpm at rest), it took more than an hour to get to hospital and then another 30 min or so of them trying with drugs to bring it back down unsuccessfully. Not an experience I can recommend to anyone, I managed though to retain conciousness the whole time up until they were having zero success and had to get the paddles out and defribrilate.

Being the softcok I am I made it pretty clear I didn't want to be concious when I got zapped, while I was out they made 3 attempts to correct it with the third one being successful, I came too some time later.

Then their task was to get me stable enough to fly home, I had another episode the next day and only snapped out of it about 5 seconds before being defibrilated again. This meant another 24 hours in ICU attempting to get me stable. Luckily it was relatively smooth sailing after that and we rebooked the flights we missed and headed home.

To say that sitting on a plane 9 hours from home with the potential at any time to have another episode of VT was just a bit stressful is an understatement.

I'll be heading up to Sydney later this week for a procedure to hopefully correct the problem.

Sorry for the OT post but I thought some of you would be interested and by next week I should be in a better position to know about my trackday attendance.

    Cheers.

Shane, being away from home is not a nice place for this to happen, has it effected you like this before ? i know a fair bit about this condition. Quite a few guys i used to race / train with had this happen to them. Some had an operation to rectify the situation, some had to stop racing i hope the operation goes well and that you recover quickley and if you do want to continue to race that you are able to.

Best of luck with the op Shane.

Good luck getting that sorted shane, that sounds like it would not have been fun, especially with some overseas thailand style health system action thrown in for good measure.

Hopefully you'll be right and bounce back in time for this, you've still got a month.

    Scott (ToyT18), money received mate.
