you dont need KE30 lower control arms the ones in your RA40 are exactly the same and will fit. also dont cut off the spring seat only ppl putting them into KE30's have to do that your RA40 spring will fit in there perfectly.

yeah i know i could put alot of different engines in the car, but I do like the old school of the 18RG... If I wanted I could get a CA18DET for free but I really want an 18RG. maybe when I get serious about the performance ( after driving it for a year or so ) ill upgrade.

    fixed for you

blue RA40, while your grabbing the XT130/RT132 struts be sure to grab the LCAs at the same time as they will give you an extra degree of camber to what you have already,
having a 25mm wider track will also reduce roll and probly take out a bit of bumpsteer at the same time.

and if you find an MX62 make sure you grab the front swaybar as it is thicker than stock thus reducing roll.

    cheers

oooh.... now your talking a new project!!

Have a look at Stradlater latest thread on the KE70 rack and pinion conversion issues. It's probably the most common...

no not a new project an extension of the same. if I can get it all done while the whole front end is out the better. I have had a look around and found that it can be done. I just have to work out how and what parts i will need to use with the suspension i will be using.

its funny I have little drawings and lists of parts to find already. cant wait for monday to start looking for the bits. Ill put up some pics tomorow some time

the only thing that may hold you back from doing a rack conversion is that most 18R engines use a rear sump (pretty sure that is correct), if you can find a front sump for it then it would be very easy to do.

KE70 or AE71 front end is easy to modify to suit an RA23/28/40 just needs the ends of the Xmember redrilled and shortened to suit, some 40x40x5mm rightangle should be welded on also to brace the ends.

be aware this conversion will widen the track a further 50mm (from memory) therefore adding another 2-2.5degrees neg camber, so with XT130 arms you would be close to 3-3.5degrees with no camber tops.

steering column problems are covered in strad's thread.
