    yeah yeah, im sure you can knock me for going nutz starting threads but this is not directly relevant to the last one so........


    T3 Turbo's..... whats the smallest? Im looking to strap onto my 4a, not worried too much about pushing HP numbers through the roof just want as close to "instant boost" as possible. maybe a step above.


    ELECTRIC TURBO CHARGING..... no im not talking about the ebay crap things. what i have managed to get my hands on is an old HVLP paint sprayer, i was planning on replacing parts that need replacing and having myself a nice little sprayer for minimal cost, but i've ditched that idea since i just got myself a nice and BIG air compressor that i can just strap a gun with a pot on, so.......

    the HVLP sprayer has a turbine to drive the air, its small(ish) i can wire it up to run on 12volts no problem. some plumbing and a BOV....... should i bother, the inquzitor in me says yes but my reason says waste time on something else. i tried to do some searching but just came up with all those cheap/do it yourself things where its a large PC fan or a boat fan of some sort, nothing came up with a turbine this powerful. i would have to do some testing but im sure there is enough jam to add some pressure to the system. im more or less just digging here to see if anyone has any info/experience or a direction to point so i can find out more.

    the smallest T3 flanged turbo's ive seen with decent technology would be from the nissan RB20 engines and would be fairly responsive on a 4a but a small T25 flanged turbo would probly be a better choice if your chasing instant response.

    for the HVLP..

    find out the pressure vs flow diagram.
    you would want at least 200-300cfm at say, 6psi to make it worth bothering.

    for power, an SC takes something like 20-30hp.. say 20kw... even being generous, say the turbine needs 10kw

    10kw = 10,000w = 700 amps at 14V

    thats... a lot of power....

    edit: with a quick look around.. the HVLP turbines look like 3-4 stage vacuum cleaner fans.
    at least for the 3M ones, 1100W = up to 115cfm (free flowing or at pressure?)
    assumign that is at pressure, if you had three fans, running at 80-100AMPS each, you might get some effect...

    ive seen the use of one of the gtr turbos go quite well but thats t2 flange
    with my r33 bb skyline turbo ages ago i made 215 at wheels with 17 psi and i think max boost was around 3600ish.
    i dont have a funny or cool signature.
