    Default speedo cable problem

hey guys, i got a problem with my speedo cabel on my ga70 (digi dash) it seems to be stuck and cant rotate but when i take it out of the gerabox it rotates freely only when i put it back in to the gearbox it seems to get stuck. i checked the speed sensor where the cable goes in to and it also rotates freely.it only doesn't rotate when the cable is put back in. any idea what it can be?

the bit in the gearbox shouldn7t rotate when the gearbox is not moving?
or it is stuck when you are driving?

Sounds like the Teeth are not meshing, you might have chipped the speedo drive gear, can you see it in the box? see if you can feel for missing teeth.

i just found out that when i put the speed sensor in to the gearbox that it does not touch gears what should be rotating it, i also checked the gears in the gearbox and it seems fine, i have 2 sets of speed sensor 1is out of my old w58 and 1 that i got with the new58 and both of am dont seem to be right is there any other speed sensor i could try? it seems that the speed sensor i have is to small and it does not touch the gears in the gearbox.

Yep, some W5x speedo gears are smaller / larger!

I.e. some W5x have a larger gear inside the gearbox and a smaller mating gear

some have a smaller gear inside the gearbox and a larger mating gear

From the sound of it you need to find a larger gear to put in the side of your gearbox...

    count the teeth.
they will be in set pairs.. like 5 and 19.. or 6 and 21 or something like that.

put back on stands, rotate driveshaft, and count the number of teeth on the driven gear..

Yep he should find out how many teeth are on the gear in the gearbox...

But there are still different sized gears for 10-32 and 10-34? I.e. the 10-32 doesn't use the same inner gear as 10-34...that was what I experienced anyway!

One of the 10's inside the gearbox was smaller / larger than the other.
