not suprising seeing how the JIC's are made from stock strut spindles

one way to mount the sway lin tabs is with a clamp like TEINs

for cheap coil overs.... why dont you make some? you can buy the threaded sections and everything you need. means its also simple to replace the inserts, no need to use brand specific $$$$ inserts. you can use stock ones, or koni or whatever you feel like!

cost me about $70nzd to make that mod to my ke70

got a short bolt of the right dia to fit the hole in the sway bar slotted the top
made a tab to fit in the groove and tigged it on. that was my link-bar mount
got an adjustable link and made up some mounts to weld to the strut (of course i did that with the insert out!!)

    http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82...g?t=1210374403

theres a pic of my test rig, im testing to see where i need to mount the strut mount. the final mount was twisted around 90 deg to that so it would have more strength in the vertical

    things to pay attention to:
link length so the bar sits in the right place
link location so it wont foul on things when turning (dont forget brake hoses!)
the mount on the strut should be of the right size so the link is as close to vertical as possible

i put the car on the ground and took measurements to see where the arms etc sit when flat. then i took the spring out and put the car on stands. then i jacked the hub up to ride height and moved the wheel left and right through its range of turn. then i repeated on full droop and full bump.

also bear in mind that this will increase the front bar stiffness, so you may need to stiffen the rear bar as well. in my case i was adding a rear bar to a car that never had one stock so it all worked out very well for me. its quite an easy mod to do, just go stare at your car for an hour and get that brain working!

just bringing an old thread up here.

It says in here from a few people that if possible your better off to mount the sway bar onto the coilover.

I have teins in my 81 but i was told to remove the tein link that connects it to the coilover and replace with s 13 items onto the LCA. Reason being, for drifting it helps the wheel centre itself nicer not having any load in the strut?

Now i'm not sure what to do lol

have read of the whole thread and try to understand what the differeing mounting points do
then think about how it suits your application

dont see how it will have much affect on the wheel centreing? not if you align everything correctly, sure there may me a little drag from the ball joint sin the link, but i bet you wont be able to tel the difference

dragging up an old discussion here but does anyone know how low you can get jic's to go?
i have some with stuffed shocks so the price of some koni race inserts is the same as a set of bc gold adjustables so dont know which way to go

Dont go full retard and get Koni's and live with some coilovers rejected from japan

    buy a set of BCs
Everyone in perth that has a cressida/X81 and has bought them fucking loves them
they can go so low that your exhaust is on the ground and you cant move your car
they have 18 point adjustable dampeners
body adjustablility on the coilover instead of only adjusting the spring

is there such a thing as bc racing BR series for the cressida?

justjap only show the v2 version.

doing google searches show that there are BR coilovers for x83/x81 but do anyone stock this in australia.

badly need new coilovers as my tein HA's have both blown front shocks

From what I can work out, the BR are the same as those advertised on JustJap.com, they just differ by name and colour. All the other specs are the same.

Also, there are 2 versions - one with rubber rear mount and the other with pillowball rear mount. Both are the same price so make sure you get the one you are after.
