you could start by clamping the return line to the regulator and see what happens..
Not being overly familiar with the pressure regs on these things, do they have an engine vaccumm line to make them opperate, and if so do you have it attatched?
Certainly possible, but I'd assume it could supply enough for idle at least. I'll see if I can swap it.Originally Posted by wa5

sorry man i forgot it was tuned correctly already! i'm a dickface![]()
try squirting some petrol directly in the plenum, through the TB or a vac port..... if you can keep the engine running by dribbling fuel in then you know its not getting enough.
a mate of mine contacted me with a similar problem... said the car would only run for a couple seconds before stalling. after a fair few times of running for a short time it eventually came good on its own. the car had been off the road for about 4 days
the only thing i can think of is that the injectors stuck closed
maybe your problem is along these lines.
whats the fuel like in the tank?? while the fuel pump is on, crack one of the banjo bolts on the rail and see if you have good pressure.
hello
just looking at the log file - is there logging setting to show the actual commanded injection pulse-width?
when the engine is at 0rpm, the injection time shows as 8.6607m/s - which i'm assuming is the fuel map data, not the actual opening time for the injectors.
also, how are the injectors firing? 1 batch or alternating or other? and just wondering if the 3.1-3.4m/s injection you're getting at a idle is spread over several injection events during a cycle.
lastly, when cranking, the ignition advance is fairly high (17-18 degrees), does the adaptronic have a cranking ignition advance settings (basically over-riding the ignition map until a pre-set rpm is achieved) ... in my msExtra setup, i have timing at around 12 degrees until i hit about 450rpm then it rfers to the ignition map
Thanks everyone for your support.
wa5: What would bypassing the pulsation dampener achieve?
brett: When I changed the fuel filter and tried to crank, there was a bang and the fuel pressure had undone one of the fittings, I obviously hasn't tightened it enough. I think there is sufficient fuel pressure.
chuckster: Not sure about pulse width logging, but I'll look into that. The injectors fire in pairs: 1&2, 3&4, 5&6. Yes, I noticed the high advance, I'm pretty sure that's a cranking setting...advance changes depending on rpm etc... there is a flag to override this and keep the timing constant at a certain about to set the timing. I think I need to set the timing properly, it's been roughly done (it wouldn't run at all if it was way out).
Is there a chance you have the fuel lines backwards...
Try adjust the crank sensor a little if you say it's not set properly. Even have someone rotate it while it is being cranked over to see if it will fire.
I was hoping it was fuel lines, as that would make sense, but they are hooked up correctly.
Have played with dizzy rotation by doing exactly that. I really need to set the timing (was going to do that today, but had left key on ON and battery was flat :S)
stefan
when were your injectors last cleaned or used?
i've been chasing the EXACT same problem as you mate with my 4AGE conversion in my AE92
it turned out that 3 out of my 4 injectors were not opening/pulsing/whatever
i soaked them in fuel for most of the day and ripped the filter baskets out and it now starts fine but i still need to get them reconditioned (as you'd expect)
to check them I removed my fuel rail with the injectors still in it and plugged in - i then cranked the engine and only one was spraying!!!!!!!
so yeah my 2c on something i've been chasing for the last 2 or so weeks
oh yeah another thing you can try - start it and then spray aerostart in the plenum and see if it keeps running - if you have a no fuel condition like i did it will keep running....
hope this helps mate
ps : here was my thread dude

only thing I suggested you bypass, was the fuel pressure reg, so if reg was not opperating correctly, and bypassing pressure back to the tank , taking it out of the eqation would deliver full pressure to the injectors..
as for vaccuumm line, I had half an idea that some regulators used engine vaccuumm to make the reg. function. I was just wondering it 1g used this system and if you had it conected.... as you had said that not all lines were connected..
Grega: thanks for that, I'll check them out
wa5: now I follow, makes senseYes, the 1G reg uses a vacuum line, pretty sure it's connected though. (I just don't have brake booster & cam cover hooked up - the lines are just looped back to the manifold.)
stef, you can earth them manually, and hear them clicking when the car is off. or remove the cas from the engine and turn the drive by hand while the car is on.
it would be weird if this was the case - wilbo's JZ12 had this same problem with the 2J injectors - we ended up forcing them to open by using a power supply at about 24V/1amp and triggering them with by earthing each injector pin at the ecu plug.
yeah doesnt sound like the prob just suggesting a method for chekcing.
