I thought the rear brakes on a mz20 where different to the rears on a a70... As i run a70 rear and couldnt fit z20 rears...
But i dont know if its front only abs...

But even then, i would have geussed the jza70 would have had a better front brake option as its a higher rated engine isnt it?

Im just geussing though man, not really sure about front...

    Cheers,

Would the brakes not change the actual controller though? I.e. Surely twin piston abs controller would operate differently to a single piston or a quad piston...

And some cars that have abs front and rear vs cars that have abs only on the front, surely that controller would be different aswel?

In my post im simply saying that the brakes a different, so could that not mean the controllers are different to...

But plz, if im wrong, tell me why and teach me where ive gone wrong...

    Cheers,

ABS works off wheel speed sensors, so the type of brakes on them won't make a difference, if the wheel locks up the sensor detects it and ABS kicks in... since brakes work hydraulically and ABS is electronic the size of piston or rotor shouldn't effect whether or not ABS works

Depending on how old the car is, this may not apply. I know that when i was working at Ford that each type of braking setup (ie. different calipers, disc sizes, suspension) there was a different software program for it. As it was also used for the stability control this was quite important.

You are right in saying that the size of the caliper/rotor wont affect the abs operation, but it will affect how effective it is. Remember that it is a dumb system and wont know when you upgrade your brakes/recognise different brakes and the associated differences in the effectiveness of the system.

But i dont know how well this applies to a 15-20year old car!
