Timing at a guess would be 10 degrees before and points gap you could probably get away with 16 thou. Have you tried looking around the net?
Could someone please tell me,
* At what degree btdc should a stock 3k engine fire number one cylinder?
* What distance is the the points gap?
* What are the clearences for intake and exhaust under rockers.
* Any advice on stock carby. To get a reasonable idle speed and smooth running.

I'll be home in about 10 days (April 1st) and I am pretty sure that I have a tuning manual for the old corolla's, and should have the tune up specs. If you haven't found out by then send me a PM and I will look it up for you.
10deg BTDC, but 10-15 should be ok unless you are using low octane unleaded.Originally Posted by celica gt-t
points gap.. 0.2-0.4mm.. just set for 0.3mm
rockers, 0.2-0.3mm (maybe 0.2-0.25 for intake and 0.25-0.3 for exhaust)
i usualy run them a bit tighterm but it depends on your cam base circle etc.. aim for 0.2-0.25mm?
umm..clean carby helps. set the float level.. after that, it is just fiddling wiht the idle mixture and idle speed..
new/clean spark plugs help. for stock, heat range 5 (in NGK) is good.

What OC said but set the timing to 15' BTDC
Orig factory said 7 or 8 and was then revised and memos sent to all dealers stating 15'
they go much better there!!
