I might just start her up today, let her get warm, stick a boost gauge on her etc, and than take her for a hit up the road. See what happens!

you must remeber also the 1js been sitting around for how long aswell, if you can drive it take it for a short drive down your rd and back, so it be choaked up with sludge/coolant also. give it a lil while to work free.
when i 1st started the 1g with the gt30, it would spin for about 10secs after shutdown,
once its been flushed out with fresh oil/coolant, it has work free'd it self, now spins for 30secs after shutdown,![]()

the wastegates on ct12a's have been known to stick open due to dodgy actuators, if your boost doesnt come on til real late in the rev's then there a good chance its that.
haha i know that feeling with the gt30, mine spins for about 5mins or so after driving at first scared the shit outta me lmaoOriginally Posted by IN 05 NT
Well i went down just now, and figured if i could make the front turbo spin and blow air in neutral just revving it, than i could stick my hand infront of the intake on the rear turbo and outlet on the rear turbo and feel if it was sucking / blowing...
Well i didnt feel any air blow or suck via the rear turbo, so now my next step is to plug in a boost gauge and measure to see if its making boost if at all...
If its not, than i will try to remove the rear inlet ( which will be a fucker of a job) and see if it can be turned by hand.
If it can be turned, and it is not blowing or sucking air, than it would be a wastegate issue than yes? How do i get at the wastegate when they are internally gated? Do they have to be removed? Or is the controller for it external or something???

if the rear turbo wont spin it is generally due to it not having a turbine left on it.
also with your tacho remember that 1200 on your tach actually = 800rpm on the 1j so its fairly low.
put your hand near the outlet of the compressor housing on the rear turbo and then rev it to 3500rpm if there is still no airflow then i would start removing turbos as id say the rear one is fooked.
cheers

I got a boost gauge, and she was making vacuum and all the rest, but wouldnt make over 0 psi no matter what. So we had a closer look, i got a third and forth opinion on the turbines and we came to the conclusion they were well stiff...
So i removed the hose that goes to the actuator, and gave it a squirt up the street, surely enough we saw about 1bar... Not sure as it was measuring in KPA and i could hardly see the gauge... This put a huge smile on my face
Put the hose back on, gave it another squirt, she sits nicely at what i think is about 8-9psi...
Enough said, 8-9psi and it loved to wheel spin through 1st, 2nd, 3rd and in the wet 4th, but i imagine 4th will grab in the dry... So next step is a wheels tires limmy and wheel alignment. Engineering and rego and were ready to go hahaha
