    Default ABS light staying on

Got a mates jzx90 here and the abs light seems to stay on sorta thing as if there is a fault, and sure enough ABS is not working

What happens is when you turn igniton on ya hear all the relays etc click away, the lights all go out on the dash to say all good, then about 2 seconds later the ABS light comes on and stays on.

Any ideas wot it could be?
Ive pulled out all four of the wheel sensors and cleaned them etc, although they looked fine.
Is there some way to diagnose the abs system for an error code like ya can with ecu's?

    Cheers
    Matty

in my mcv36 you can plug the it into the diagnostic plug and the bcm with throw a code saying what is wrong with the abs

often it's either damaged or worn out wiring to the wheel speed sensors or fouling of the sensors themselves, like you checked, and the code will be something like wheel speed sensor input out of range or not present

hmm so maybe dodgy wiring somewhere then.
Cos the interesting thing is that the light comes back on even before you start moving the car. Would it even get a signal without the car moving?

Seconded, when i got some work done at a mechanic, my car returned with the abs light coming on most times i drove the car. Turned out he cable tied some of the ABS wiring to an exhaust bracket and it melted through and was shorting...

if the light is coming on straight away then the abs self test has failed, there will be an electrical problem most likely.

if the abs light come on after you start driving its most likely the sensor/s are dirty or misreading.

This is exactly what is happening.
No it has not been converted from auto to manual.

The car was sitting for about a month, in the time the brake pads were changed and then once the car was re started after sitting the abs decided to come on and stay on.

What exactly does the self test do mate? any idea? might help narrow down the suspected problem?

    Cheers

just runs some sort of diagnostic check on the eco and stuff.

i have the abs manual thing you get when you buy the car i think i read about it in there, and im pretty sure you can pull codes via abs light flashing- different from pulling ecu codes.

ill try to remember to have a look when i get home.

Whilst the brakes were being changed, the ABS wiring has been disturbed.
