Default microtech LT10s + controller niggles

Have an st162 with gen2 3sge in it, all controlled by a Microtech as above. About 2 days ago the hand controller started flashing and resetting itself and in the process is giving me a heap of error messages relating to idle "Hg, crank degree, air temp(even though im not running a sensor for this). Today i took out the ECu, checked all connection, checked the hand controller cable and put it all back together.

its still happening and the only thing i can think of is i've missed a loose connection or have rubbed through a ground somewhere. Also, the ECu is under the dash in the stock ECu box - could heat be effecting it at all?

Any hints would be muchly apprecaited.

My handset does this too sometimes. Only after a decent length drive. Could be a heat issue on the hand-controller.

Only just started doing it in the summer never in the winter.

the microwrecks use the box as a heat sink so if they dont have ventilation they can get hot and start doing weird shit.

but hey its an electronic carby so you get that

My mates one did this too, it was the 9 pin connector being shithouse in his case as we tried my handset in his car and the same thing happened so we swapped the the 9 pin cable and no problem since.

Mine has never had the issue.

Mine is under the dash and has been for years without issue. Even with 8 - 9 hours with only 1 or two stops for fuel and a piss driving in around 35 degree temps for most of it I've never had any heat related ECU issues.

I don't think mounting it inside a box would help though, if you really want it inside the box then fit a cooling fan.

    Cheers.

Mine sits on the tranny tunnel under the stereo.
Not many places in the cabin get hotter than that.
Drove across the country and back in 30+ heat and didn't have any heat related ECU issues.

I'd also start with trying a new cable, its like $9.

Thanks guys - I picked up a new cable tonight. Ill chuck this in and see if it gets better - i did also notice the case was being used as a heat sink so maybe ill shift the ECU or put a 12V PC fan on the box -

I'll let you know how it goes. thanks
