    Default 4agze + turbo = xx hp?

    Hi guys

    Budget engine setup:

Stock 4agze, delete blower add small turbo, factory i/c front mounted, stock ecu/injectors/manifold, and obligatory 3" exhaust.

They mostly seem to have microtechs fitted... I'm talking uber budget, stock ecu.

If you're using AFM 4AGZE, the the AFM is a real power limiter (SMALL!!!).
Emanage Ultimate says that MAP sensed 4AGZE ECU only reads to about 7/8psi .

What type of turbo are you looking at using?

PS, Factory 4AGZE intercoolers suck anus from a flow point of view.

    ^^^ why?

factory map sensed ecu on a customers 4agte makes 150odd rwkw and it runs sweet passes emissions and got wired in 5hrs.

use a small turbo on factory ecu's and they work fine.

    cheers

Mine made a shade over 150rwkw on the stock AFM ECU too. Took about 14.5psi to acheive that.

That was with a bog stock T28 from an R33 GTR (one of pair )

see easy to do with either ECU, but i prefer the MAP ecu as theyre easier to fiddle with from a breathing point and dont have an annoying AFM to restrict flow.

Yeh but standard AFM is still way small! Upgrade isn't hard but adds to costs. Curious to see how my twincharger set up go's breathing thru a 3SGTE size AFM

Stock 4agze, delete blower add small turbo, factory i/c front mounted, stock ecu/injectors/manifold, and obligatory 3" exhaust.
stock 4agze (and i mean stock everything) with a t25 installed @ 7psi puts out more power at the wheels than stock s/c @ 8psi.
and i wouldnt go a 3" exhaust IMO, 2.5" is plenty big enough.

    hp atw?
how longs a peice of string, there is too many variations for anyone to tell you how much hp your car is going to make.

i've never felt my AFM was a problem on the gte or the TC, there's other bits that restrict flow more.

Yeh the throttle body is puney and can be bored out 5mm with matching work to the pipe that it bolts to. I tried putting a manometer on my MR2 (pre TB) and it just about drank it .

Another test showed that even with a 55mm TB and a bigger AFM, I was still getting 4" mercury vacuum between the TB and the SC at 6500rpm. This is of course measuring the TB resistance to flow aswell tho. That's with standard pulleys too.
Standard TB and AFM showed closer to 6" mercury vacuum.

Another test that shows that the standard AFM is too small, watch the voltage output from it and see how early it gets to it's minimum voltage (lower voltage/higher load). Even with my bigger AFM, it gets down to it's lowest voltage, just further up the rev range.

Yeah my guess would have been about 150ish rwkw for that setup. I believe the stock injectors max out before you can get 160rwkw.

Monkeymajik on here got something like 155rwkw, with stock injectors, computer etc with an afm version.

The factory ic might be a limiting factor though even front mounted, anyone know whether it would support 150rwkw?

As has been said, there can always be many other factors that will prevent you from achieving the power figures you expect.

That's prettymuch the answer I was after.... 150rwkw=200rwhp so conservatively should make 180rwhp any day of the week, which in something under 1000kg and RWD should be a pretty spritely little thing... and I'd hope even fuel efficient when driven kindly, given stock ECU.

I have a car I am considering doing only for the reason that it is a cheap throw-together.... if it can't be done like that then I'm not interested.

Treated nicely a T50 should go alright with that power level?

If the box is in good nick and you don't abuse it then it will last a while.

I would think a Mazda 1000 would come in under 900kg?? My KE25 with W58 and big diff comes in at ~920kg wet with half a tank.

I don't know how much power it will make but in response to the above post, i finally have an answer to the, how long is a piece of string question.

It is twice the length from the middle to one end.
