Default 1JZ cressida FCD and SAFC questions

    Hey all,

I have a MX83 cressida with jzx81 1jz installed, i have fitted 440cc 2jz injectors and it has a Apexi SAFC, engine has 2.5" dumps, factory wastegate plumbing so about 13psi with a 16psi or so spike, first question, i am yet to put a bung in the exhaust for my wide band but i have the HI throttle trims set to -18% across the entire rev range anything closer to 0 for that setting and spark is getting washed out, i have read that 1JZs run stupidly rich factory and the injectors in it now are roughly flow 11% more fuel, does that amount if trim sound extreme?

2nd question, i built an FCD with a few diodes and a 1k pot, before i installed it i thought i'd hook up a multimeter (a cheap one at that) and take it for a strap, see if i can see where the voltage peaks or hits fuel cut, had negative side hooked up to negative wire from map and positive to signal return. From reading a few forums and things i was expecting it to hit cut just over 4v somewhere, to my suprise i seen as high as 5.69v with no cut and about 16 psi?
What is going on here? i get about 1.69v at idle with stable vacum, any ideas?

    Cheers

It doesn't make sense to have a SAFC and a FCD at the same time, they both work by fiddling with the MAP sensor output.

safc when set at 0 wont get rid of the over boost fuel cut, that would be the only reason i can see for having a FCD aswell.
but in saying that if you have larger injectors with the SAFC trimmed down to suit and an FCD ,id give it a couple of overboosts and id say your rings wont be in 1 piece anymore.

probly best off setting it all up on a dyno to actually see what the car is doing at full boost.

most ECUs will allow for a boost spike of Xamount for an Xamount of time but what toyotas are set to im not 100% sure, you shouldnt be seeing over 5v though as that is all the ecu feeds to the MAP sensor

    cheers

Yeah i think something suss is up with my multi meter, i got the trim down to -30% now and it loads up clean and feels like it makes good power, no sign of detonation but i guess the ecu would be pulling timing on a knock event anyway. Pulled the FCD off and so far no boost cut but not really in a location where i can load it up in top. I will have to weld a bung in the exhaust and get my tech edge wide band onto it and see what is doing.

Plenty of power now anyway, slight stutter off throttle with the 440cc injectors but other than that it drives good, thinking if i can stuff around with shims to speed up the auto shift speed then it'll be a good thing for a daily.
