Once you look at everything carefully you'll see how easy is it.

4 bolts and about an hours work.

Remember the hydraulic hardlines are fairly long, and they are somewhat flexible, so 5mm in the rack is probably 0.02mm of flex at the other end of the hard line almost a meter away.

And yes, they are really easy to do.

cant see there being much movement in the rack when it has hydraulic hard lines bolted to it.

Isn't Cressida steering rack like this?

And aren't there normal flexiple lines between the rack and reservoir and pump?

There is a hard line which is a high pressure line, and the lowpressure return which is a flexible line. They go to and from the res/pump. While the two hardlines you have pictured there are as is.

That high pressure hard line is still a soft line in the middle though.
Its not hard from one end to the other.

It can't be hard from one end to the other.
The motor moves independently compared to the rack.
If it was hard it would snap/crack with in months of being brand new, if not before.

It should be hard from the rack to where it bolts to the chassis rail, and then soft for a bit, and finally a hard section just before the pump.

ok i have just done this.
pretty straight forward as cruzida stated, 4 bolts hold the bushes in. (2 per side)
on my car i had to remove the steering damper which is just an oil or gas strut which attaches to the drivers side bracket. Not sure if the mx83 came with this damper?

took me about 1.5hours all up

Yeah, early model MX83s came with the damper, late models dont.
