earthing of Igniter?
Putting this problem up for MrDOHC....
Engine Details:
JZX83 conversion, no idea on the state of the wiring, Stock ECU, no SAFC etc
Problem Details as reported to me over the phone:
Phil (MrDOHC) seems to think that cyl 3 and 5 are dumping in fuel? He has unplugged the injectors to them, with no difference in how the engine runs, but smells much less fuely...?
No ECU codes...
Anyone know of a cause?
My thoughts:
Cyl 3 and Cyl 5 shouldn't be grouped to a single injector driver (to the ECU) in the stock wiring, so seeing as the cylinders that aren't paired with 3 and 5 are OK I'd be feeling that the injector wiring is OK, and the ECU drivers... I'd be looking for a spark problem, and would start with pulling the plugs...
Again tho 3 & 5 don't have shared ignition drivers on the ECU or igniter...so maybe plugs or coils...
Cheers

earthing of Igniter?
the igniters dont need to be earthed
cold start injector leaking?
hello
1JZ don't have a CSIOriginally Posted by brett_celicacoupe
Update: Apparently he plugged the injectors back in and it was fine...go figure? Tho he reckons he has a zaust leak that makes it sound like a diesel

even though you say it was 3 and 5 you can accidentally put no2 and no3 injector plugs arse about, i had the same problem with a JZA70 ecu and it turned out to be leaking caps and 1 resistor.
it was intermitent to begin with but got more regular as time went on.

the car just started doing it while it was on the turbo timer at the servo, was pumping out white smoke big time, i think it was raw fuel.
at smoko i put the injectors back on and it was all good, the exhaust leak went away after a few hundred meters of driving, i'd say it was just contracted steel etc.
i used about 1/8 of a tank to go about 10k when the injectors were hooked up, and another 1/8th to go the next 15k, as the car was labouring with only 4 cylinders working.
i'll keep u all updated if it happens again

i hate to say it but i agree with linden
+1 for caps
exact symptoms that IMA01J had, was the caps + a resistor in the ecuOriginally Posted by Mr DOHC

I just had all the caps done in mine and got it back today. ALL were leaking and fortunately the tracks weren't totally destroyed. They guy who did it said he would be willing to do others if anyone is interested. Cost was $40 and I bought the caps which cost me $5.
thats cheap as, the first one i sent away was over $500, normal price is about $150 but as stated if you can find somone smart enough *coughs* wilbo *coughs* you should be able to do it cheap as chips.
