Default Ebay Waterpump/Timing belt kit for 1UZ? Opinion?

Tell me your opinions. I have a thought that it would be a huge cost to a chinese manufacturer to make the waterpumps so these might actually be a decent quality.

Also, anyone know a part number for a serpentine belt with no AC compressor fitted to the 1UZ?

    Cheers
    Ben

PS - its going in an old soarer race car.

the sea/gasket kit i got off ebay was a bit hit and miss. 90% of stuff was fine, but random gaskets didnt fit, and they included the wrong stem seal size for the specified engine (vvti vs non-vvti 1uz)

for the price though, it still worked out WAY cheaper. and the gaskets themsleves were pefect quality (laminated steel with inlaid rubber o-rings etc)

i say go for it it worth it.

as for serentine belt - race car? do this:

thanks for the tip, but Id still want powersteering in the track/drift MZ20 soarer, or I spose I could just leave it off. Is yours driving now? How does it feel with only mechanical steering?

    Whats you belt part number?

    cheers

Unless you use the non-PS rack I can't see it being the best without the pump. If it's anything like what I've seen before anyway, PS cars with the pump removed are harder to steer than ones without PS.

How do you tension the belt with the above setup? Has the alternator bracket been modified to do this?

    Same same Matty.

6PK1600 is for no AC (at least thats what my notes have written)
But be warned, the Celsior/Soarer alt has a different sized pulley to the Crown alt, and I'm not sure if the fan pulley is the same size between viscous and hydro.

I put a genuine pump in (didn't both with gasket), and used a Dayco timing belt kit (tensioner, bearings, seals and belt - $320)

As a side note Ed, it will be interesting to see if you have enough crack wrap there to prevent squealing.

For the first few months my belt was installed incorrectly (crank-alt-tens-ps as opposed to crack-tens-alt-ps) and she'd squeal like a pig when ever the alternator was under load (after starting, thermos and headlights on, etc)
