OK,
ANSWER:
Toyota 90311-40020 is
40.5, 52.5, 6.5
Suspect:
Toyota 90311-40014 is
40.5 52.5 6
Note:
Toyota 90311-40020 subs 90311-40014
I pulled some 40.5 52.5 6 Cam seals out of my 2jz (ex JZS147). I had the feeling that the cam seal had been done before, so I didn't really trust this...
Also I went to Statewide bearings and they said they didn't have anything to match that (40.5 52.5 6)...
Called CBC and they said "yeah we have a listing for JZA80"...they said it was 40 52.5 7 over the phone...
Went to pick them up at CBC and they handed me 40 52 7 seals...I said, "You sure these are right?"...and they said that is what was listedOf course they don't fit, the OD is not right
SOOO can anyone confirm the dimensions of the 2JZ-GTE seal so that I can have one last go at tracking them down aftermarket (and hence cheaper)....
Toyota Part number 90311-40020 (or 90311-40014), suits 2JZGTE, 2JZ-GE, 1JZ-GE.
Cheers

Nah, stuff that, leave those bad boys complete! I'm leaning towards 40.5 52.5 6 being right tho...found a Russian site that also suggested thisOriginally Posted by Clintoris
And if that is the case I'm just gonna have to go genuine! (unless someone knows something I don't...already tried statewide and CBC...)

I got genuine seals and from memory they weren't terribly expensive.

Come on guys, get with the program!
You don't get your wheel bearings from Toyota, and I hope you don't get your rear main seals from Toyota, etc...mainly because you can get exactly the same thing from a decent bearing / seal provider for a fraction of the cost...!
While it is looking like I have no option other than to go genuine for the cam seals, it is nice to do a little bit of work now, so that I know for next time

I know you're a cheapskate, but all this stuffing around for the sake of $15?? Come on!

*Normally* Toyota charges a lot more for seals.
I priced 6MGE crank and oil pump seals once. I think they were about $110 for the pair.
Ended up getting non-gen's for about $25 or less for the pair.
However, in the case above, $15, just get gen. IF they have them in stock.
All that said, I think the other thing Wilbo is trying to do is to get a definitive anwer on this, for future peoples.

Wilbo, don't you own a precision measuring device?
You have it apart, isn't the only point of contention is the thickness? As the other two dimensions are fixed by the size of the cam and the bearing cap....
And seriously, how much spare time do you have on your hands???

But at the same time I'm not equipped with the engineering guidelines as to what the interference fit is tho, or how much tension on the sealing lip is the norm, I can take a guess of a few 0.1mm for both, but I was kinda hoping someone could simply tell me that 40.5 52.5 x was right (i.e. off an engine / Toyota seal)

I'm also happy to be enlightened on the optimum housing OD vs seal OD, and shaft OD vs seal ID if someone does have that info
Anyway I'll order my genuine ones today... like I said the price in this instance isn't the issue as much as Toyota are only 2 to 3 times the price of other similar aftermarket seals in this case...
Out of interest who of you here would buy a rear main seal from Toyota? Or wheel bearings?
Cheers
Wilbo
A genuine Toyota seal wont be made by Toyota, all the ones I've pulled apart had NOK seals, and then I just took their part number and got Stephs uncle to order them in for me.

Indeed, which is why I try and get my seals from a bearing / seal store...the bonus is they are much cheaper.Originally Posted by JustCallMeOrlando
Btw CBC Bearings ARE a NOK supplier, but even they can't provide the cam seals, or the front main seal for that matter (and the front main seals is a NOK part)

Random. I ended up getting my rear main seal through a company called Veale Auto Parts. Cost stuff all.

Yeah rear main is all good to get aftermarketOriginally Posted by JustCallMeOrlando
But I couldn't get the front main, and it seems that I can't get cam seals aftermarket
