Just checked the toyota EPC... (Electronic Parts Catalog)

No ECT listing for the GX81 = No ECT..

    & now toyota part numbers :- GX81, Gen3, 1G-GZE..

    engine control computer, ECU. # 89661-22300, & 89661-22310.
    Shift lock control, # 85933-22010.
cruise control, # 88240-22230. (the Green box above)
    shock absorber control, # 89243-22070, & 89243-22090.
    rear clearance warning, # 89340-22020, & 89340-22040.
    skid control ABS, # 89541-22010, &89541-22030.
    traction control, # 89631-22020, & 89631-22030.

    i hope this helps...

in short NO ECT for a GX81

    As for the GS131, Gen3, 1G-GZE..

    ECU, # 89661-30330..
    ECT, # 89530-30491..

So they have different numbers so the GX81's ECU may have the ECT built in...???

Some parts of the jigsaw puzzle might just be starting to come together.
I wonder whether the wiring diagram i'm using is right for my situation. (Bullfrog)
I'll press on, but if anyone has a bellhousing for a 1G, let me know. Ultimately that probably will be the way to go!
    Thanks,
    Glen

I had that wire diag' as well it's crap..
i've got 3 or 4 different ones, i'll look tomorow for them...
i had to redraw a few of them.. as was crap..

    you should have a :-

    engine control computer, ECU. # 89661-22300, & 89661-22310.
    Shift lock control, # 85933-22010.

    toyota part numbers :- GX81, Gen3, 1G-GZE..

I'll also look through the EPC for other controlers, & where to find in you cut..

    cheers

    Back to the auto questions:
I am now fairly sure that the GX81 ECU also contains the transmission controls...
Now, with only the 'Bullfrog' wiring diagram to go on,i had wired the ECU SP2 pin to the wire i thought went directly to it on the transmission.
But, i have since found that it took a diversion in the loom to somewhere else, and not directly to the transmission!
I'm thinking it might have went to the Cruise Control (removed) first, and then makes its way back to the transmission.(maybe as a different color even)
That means that i have never had the Speed Control connected, therefore the cause of my major problem.
What do others think of this theory??
    Now the next problem.
The Speed Control in the transmission has three wires!
Does the magnetic pulse signal from here back to the ECU only use one wire?
Could the other two wires have gone to elsewhere like the Cruise Control?
How do i determine which wire to use to directly signal the ECU?
Am i going crazy? (No, don't answer that!)
    Thanks,
    Glen.

    [IMG][/IMG]

    Here is my SP2.
    It has 3 Wires
    Part No is 89544-30010.
I assume that i'm having trouble because the Cruise Control had something to do with this.
I'm not using the cruise control, so maybe i need a different Speed Sensor.
Is there one that simply sends a signal directly back to SP2 Pin in ECU??
I am not getting any signal at SP2 Pin at ECU.
I have checked the solenoids with 12v connected individually, and they are working.(Click)
    Help Please!!

    Glen.
