I just went to Appco (panmure) and found a very helpful person there that checked out all the listings and sorted all the bearings, rings, etc etc - this was about 3-4 years ago though.Originally Posted by Mr Revhead

please, no more PMs!
3t and late 2t main bearings are the same main bearings as late 2tg.
same size, thickness, oil hole location etc.
check it out:

nice
but you say late.....
i havnt found anything about a difference in earlier engines, is there?
this car is about a 70-72

yeah *something tells me* that the bearings are narrower on the early 2t's and 2tg's,
the 2tg early ones being the 220 and 222 head models, wide bearings on late
260, 261, 262 head models.
3t's only came out years later and are all wide bearings.

Correct.Originally Posted by styler
Main bearings got wider on 2T# engines made after 7611. For 2TG that means after engine number 2T-8108803 (i.e. during the 260 head model run).
Toyota part numbers for standard size bearings:
engines up to no. 2T-8108803: 11702-27012
engines from no. 2T-8108804: 11702-88260
hmmm ok
so wear the hell do you get bearings from!!
toyota no longer do them...
i think i can get b/e from japan, but so far nothing on mains!

Any engine shop worth its name should be able to source them.
ah no....
no one has any listings.... all the listings for 2TG bearings so far have been all wrong!
my customer is a garage that does a lot of competion work, they are good engine builders that have been doing it for a while, all their suppliers have come up a blank too.
nex tstep is to see about custom bearings

yeah i know a lot of 2tg stuff isnt listed anymore or is listed incorrectly.
if you have a late model 2tg, ie the 260 head upwards then all the 3t bearings are
exactly the same, thats what i have used.
i use the standard grade acl bearings listed as : 2T / 2TGUE / 3T / 13T
bearings part no. : 5m1689
these are the late model wider ones.
acl bearing catalogue : (as their page numbers are wrong)
13t and 2tg is pg 511
2t and 3t is pg 547
also brd racing in the US does calico special coated bearings.
Try these guys in Japan:
http://www.kameariengineworks.co.jp/
Page 19 on their catalogue.
Very nice gear. Not cheap. They now have some outlets in the USA.
Must admit it is 8 years since I last got crankshaft bearings for my 2TG but I dont recall any dramas sourcing them aftermarket then.
I had a look at some old receipts and i think my ones came from:
