Correction to be made on my behalf yes you are right the NA model is quite a lot lighter than the turbo one.
But the turbo model is what i say above. I was just looking at it on Wikipedia and it weighs what i said for the turbo. And ONLY 1460 for the NA.

My manual NA A80 weighed in at 1480 KG pretty well standard with spare and full tank.
No, it's not. 1999 brochure says 1510kgs for the RZ model, 1490kgs for the RZ-S, 1460kgs for the SZ-R and 1430/1440kgs for the SZ. I assume these to be unladen weights as it gives heavier weights for each model which I would image is fully loaded.Originally Posted by Gttwinturbomk3

Since when is Wikipedia accurate?
Wikipedia is often accurate, if people update it. The ~1500kg weight for the TT was quoting from a couple of people on this forum who'd actually had their cars weighed.
Dunno if I've seen you car, sounds nice. First thing I'd do is remove the MTEU from it though so it's a moot point![]()

It really isn't useful comparing masses specified under different conditions....
You might want to state exactly what you're quoting before engaging in a "factual" argument...
Manufacturer's specified mass is always less than weighbridge results, and those are not always accurate anyway.
In any case, a 2JZ-GE, whether making 120 or 150rwkw, isn't particularly fast in a JZA80, and while slightly faster in an MA61 is still not uberly impressive

A guy I know got his JZA80 down to 1350kg (according to corner scales) but only after putting it on a fairly extreme weight-loss program, so methinks 1380 for a stocker is a little optimistic?

Was his a TT or an NA? Remember Ed's had a W58 instead of a V160, A-series diff, no turbo hardware etc. Povo spec![]()

The car in question does have a turbo engine, 6-speed etc but it's WAY beyond povo spec. All interior removed (back seats, carpets, door trim etc), AC/heater etc removed, stereo gone, most of the wiring loom stripped out (you should have seen the pile of wires), he even went as far as making his own exhaust pipe out of stainless sheet because all off-the-shelf pipe had thick walls and was heavy.
I'm not saying Ed's car couldn't get to the same level, just seems very light for a totally stock JZA80 with everything in it?
