Woohoo! Now you can sleep at night Good work

Now hurry up & finish assembling it, and drive to the tuners so we can see a result

Well I spoke too soon. I put the cooling system together and tidied up the ECU wiring, then tried firing it up... and it ran worse than ever. Seemed like it was running on 4 cylinders, then later it wouldn't start at all. I have NFI what's going on with this thing.

Have you triple checked the polarity of the cam & crank sensor wiring? I've seen many confusing toyota wiring colours that differ between the soarer, supra & MKII 1JZ's, so i'd imagine the 2JZ wiring has just as many anomalies in the different chassis they came in.

The engine will try to run, or even run roughly on its own if one of the sensors is wired in reverse. Apparently there is no harm in trying the wiring either way, it will either run properly or not, without doing damage to the ECU etc. **no liability taken for this statement just in case yours farks out **

Yeah that's something I can play with, I really have no idea if I got the polarity right although it was running pretty sweet on Saturday? I need to figure out what's changed since then, and to be honest very little has. I taped up the ECU wires into a bundle and got it looking all neat, and I moved the ground point for the shielded cables, but that's all I did with the wiring.

I have been told that Haltechs are very sensitive to interference in the CAS wiring and sometimes it's necessary to keep it totally separate from the other wiring, so maybe by taping it together I stuffed it up?

Posting in this thread also for completeness

And yes, bundling up the wires together can interfere in extreme cases. Shielding should only be connected on one end of the cable and should not be used to carry any sort of signal or current.

Finally got around to fishing out my notes...
Crank angle sensor pin 1 Black NE+, pin 2 White NE-.
Front Cam sensor pin 1 Black +, pin 2 White -.
Rear Cam sensor pin 1 Red +, pin 2 Green -.
(pin numbers are on the plug, if it's clean ).
(I actually don't know which one is G1 and which one is G2, will check later today).

Norbie, are you using the haltech tripple channel ignitor to run in wasted spark?

I am trying to work out if i can use the haltech tripple channel ignitor will be able to run set of 6 GTE coil packs in wasted spark config, i have dual post haltech coils as well, but for simplicity would rather run the -GTE coils if i can.

Norbie, i went through this exact problem a couple of weeks back, once I got the firing order sorted it still ran like shit, what you said it sounded like it was running on 4 clyinders. To my surprise it was the spark plugs fouling up because all i'd been doing was starting it and stopping it, might be worth a look if you havent already?

Nat: I'm using 3 channels on my MSD DIS4 in wasted spark config, I see no reason you couldn't do it with a Haltech ignitor.

Jordan: thanks but it's all sorted, engine is running reasonably well now.

If it can't handle the current of two coils is one reason... you know the whole thing about assumptions?

I was told the Haltech ignitor is made to run wasted spark on a 6cyl (obviously) but they recommended using the dual post single coils, which i have here but am having a bastard of a time find somewhere handy to fit them to keep the leads short.
