Sorry about the late reply been busy over the break but definately count me in for any night really.

Id like to test out my different exhaust systems to see if power vs torque reveals quicker times!

    "beatle's how to launch a 1jz auto guide 101"

step 1) do static burnout til in second gear, push right foot firmly down, release brake pedal, remove right foot off carpet as you pass bruno (bruno is the old bearded guy who controls staging)
    step 2) stage
step 3) left foot hard on brake pedal
step 4) right foot on about ~ 1/2 of accelerator til you hit around ~2300rpm, hold steady
step 5) remove left foot off brake when last orange light comes on
step 6) hold straight, right pedal never leaves the carpet
step 7) pick up time card revealing 13second pass
    step 8) jig

(note, after trying several things, keep car in D with power and OD off, manualy shifting hurts ET (i dunno why either) also, fit a trans cooler, do it before you drive the car again, there $140 from supersheep, i didnt til it was too late)

oh and dont let the tyres down, if your on street tyres all you will do is hurt your MOH i recomend about 30-32PSI

Okay, why power and OD off? I literally don't know anything about autos as I've never driven one. Roger than on trans cooler, how easy are they to fit?

these old trannys just arent controlled as well as their newer counterparts.

power mode tells the tranny to hold it in gear longer before shifting.

while this is better for outright power (up to a point) it sucks cause it takes longer to change gears, heats your fluid up more (as the motors spinning faster) and, as was the case with my 7M, sometimes the fucker just wont shift out of gear until you drop the rpm a bit.

OD off is simple, taking the fourth gear out of the picture, although it shouldnt matter much? foot to the floor should keep it out of OD anyway.

i did some testing with my 7M, i had foot HARD on the brake and my handbrake all the way up, i got it to 3500rpm and 6psi without breaking traction.

course, this heated the fluid and fucked the tranny, but hey, i did it ahhaha

Well like I said I'm not running on my own tyres at the moment so I'm taking it easy.
Something else I don't really understand. The tranny cooler is obviously a good idea but during your burnout and stall up/launch is when I figure the box is under the most pressure but there is no airflow onto the cooler so doesn't that kind of mean the damage is already done by the time you get going and the oil starts getting cooled?

haha but it just feels so wrong doing that with a standard torque converter hehe

putting a trans cooler on is simple, disconect the 2 lines going to the radiator, attach 2 lines going to cooler, simple.
yeah doing the burnout and stalling it up theres no airflow, but as soon as you take off you get some, as matty said, put on a thermo if your worried, go to chris mills' and you can get B&M coolers with thermo's in a pakage, but you need to buy 2 1/2NPT - 3/8 barb fittings and about 2ish metres of 3/8 oil line

I'm out, flying back home to Tassie on the 14th February. No kicking of Sangropers butts for me .

On a plus note, I'll be seeing the DA round at Symmonds Plains . I'll also be seeing a local drift practice day the weekend before
