What does it mean when it fires and sends gases out the inlet manifold?
I mean timing wise, too advanced or to retarded( excuse the pun) lol

Well I found something intersting today
The Cams were put in the wrong place.... not happy.
    Thanks to jeremy for conformation.
Its back to where I was before..loooong before.
It looks like the injectors aren't firing to confirm this I was opening and closing the tps about10 times then cranking her. she'd splutter and then go back to cranking.
    This is driving me insane.
Anyone have anymore ideas? Cause I'm all out of them............
If anyone would like to bring a shotgun round, it would be greatful

Try "ticking" the injectors with a 6 volt lantern battery, if they don't tick then give them a couple of taps with a screwdriver (on the steel body of the injector).

Who installed your cylinder head and timed the cams? How far out were they?
    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

Hey YellowRolla, When I turn the key to ON pos. they all tick its then when I crank she splutters and then nothing. I know the cold start injector works as I unscrewd the injector from plenum, then key from on to crank and it fired(squirted mist) once. Is it only meant to do it once? Also with the injectors are they meant to 'pulse' when cranking?
Regarding the Cam timing, I did them myself. What was wrong is that when phillip head services put them back in, cam1 was in cam2 pos and visa versa.
Yest I also got a flame out of the inlet manifold which blew the afm off. I take it pre ignition?

Ok this is what I'm upto:-
-dizzy timing set at approx 10deg
-fuel pump goes on when afm gate is opened.
-CSI sprays fuel when key first turned from ON to start(crank)
-injectors 1234 all 'click' when key turned from on to start(crank)
-while cranking she coughs and splutters but will not go( I take it the fuel from the CSI is enough to give her the intial 'kick'

    I'm 98% sure the injectors aren't pulsing.
I know that the injectors are grounded through the ECU. ECU has ground wire to chassis.
BO wire from Ballast resistor is hooked up along with Fat L(blue from Open Circuit Relay) and BY from the 2tgeu loom through 20amp fuse to +battery.
    what am I doing wrong?
    Please help

Even if the injectors are not pulsing, the car will start and run momentarily on th ecold start injector. Is the dist timed 180deg out? Did you make sure that #1 was at TDC compression? Try swapping the leads to their opposite posts and see if it fires.

"BO wire from Ballast resistor is hooked up along with Fat L(blue from Open Circuit Relay) and BY from the 2tgeu loom through 20amp fuse to +battery" this is constant power correct.?
+B is the +power from the ECU?

    Dave,
Take plugs out except no 1 wind over by hand till you feel compression then you know you have no 1 on compression stroke, check timing then replace plugs.
Check you haven't crossed coil wiring, mine has Two wires from the dizzy.
Black and orange stripe wire to pos coil.
    Black wire to neg coil.
Ignition wire black with orange band to neg coil.
    I hope this helps.

Yep, Checked wires going to dizzy
on coil -tive I have black(tacho) and black from dizzy
on +tive coil i have BY (ign) B (IG from ECU) BR(from Dizzy)
This combination fires and when cranking starts briefly due to fuel from CSI and then back to cranking. no pulse from injectors is felt through out this operation.
The only time I feel a 'click' from all the injectors is when I open the TPS slightly or move key to ON pos.

Injector wiring is all ok? No spare wires/plugs not attached to anything?

This is part of a diagram i have - BY at the top is the + from battery to the ECU (with 20A fuse i think)

Well guys Good news, The bitch runs!!!!!
I have no Idea what I did. Well actually I cracked the absolute shits this arvo after talking to Invid and ripped all the tape off the loom and out of frustration thought fuckit crank her and... putter putter vrooom!!!!! 4 weeks of looking through wiring testing different combinations = hair pulling frustration. look of an ABSOLUTE stuned mullet with the WTF on my face = PRiceless!!!!!
Now the painstaking process of taping it all up in sections, testing straight after taping to make sure she still goes,
    Wish me luck!!!!
