I use this same setup on my FJ20 when it first ran, started first kick from cold with pure black smoke out the exhaust running AFR's of like 10.5:1. Must admit i was impressed.

Using 20 psi now on the same set of plugs as when it was running rich as mud cake, and its still going strong.
but how does the stock ecu know that the coils have fired? no igf signal?

if that can be sorted, then that is what I would be doing if I had stock ecu as the igniters are getting pretty old. Having said that, if i was doing a 1j conversion these days, I would be buying motor only and wiring a stand alone ecu straight up as it is going to be 15 years newer.

That last coil or two in the row is going to get stooged HARD of +ve current, spesh at higher boosts & rpms, if i was you i would be connecting that last coil back to +ve source along with like the first one is. Plus, i would seriously be insulating those terminal on the backs of the coils, cause if they earth out on some peice of exposed metal, you can kiss that ignitor channel goodbye and possible even the offending coil.
Cheers, yeah I'll do that and insulate the terminals.. not sure of the best way to insulate them but I'll have a look at it anyway.

I have never done it with stock ecu. With a microtech it is easy as obviously as it is all made for it.

I would have no idea how to wire it as from memory there isn't that many wires in the x6 loom (not 12, 6 in 6 out anyway).

    Thanks for the read guys!

I'm in the process of a 1.5JZ build (yes, I know, its STILL going!) and have just found out that 3 of my coils are cracked bad. Was thinking of running bosch units anyway. So now at least I know that I will be able to so it

Check out the new microtech website. They are better coils than Bosch, basically the same though. Full set of 6 is $300.
I'll be getting some oneday, once my engine goes back in.

I don't see it. They are linked in parralell there, not series. Chaining them together like that is no different to running a seperate +'tve lead to each from the battery. Whether they all link up at the battery, the alternator or the first coil, doesn't make much difference electrically. If anything a heavier gauge wire may be of some benefit?
