2mm is abit thick, gets rid of too much squish.
how much power are you chasing?
but to answer the question, yes they are a good thing

for that kind of power a std head gasket should be fine provided the block and head prep is correct and you use some decent fasteners ie ARP.

yeh a genuine head gasket will be fine they are pretty good. my car only ever see's over 20psi (it is a 1.6, cubes wont help me)
ive blown many gaskets, cometic included and it all come's down to tune and what roadrunner said.
now that i have a good tuner, lifes great.
i dont have a funny or cool signature.
mine blew the standard gasket, with an arp stud kit fitted, and what i believe to be a good tune. (no doubt mr roadrunner will have a stab at my computer but) now it has a cometic mls gasket. its not a 2mm but.
buy a TODA multi layerd steel one, at $120ish AUD delivered, it's hard value to beat.
